I'm having to reinstall truespace 7 (this will be 5x). It seems like each time I've installed it, different things don't work, or don't work right...
I have a 1-year old Hp Pavilion a1210n, 2.2 Ghz, 1.5 gig Ram, Windows XP Media Center, and a RADEON X700 PRO video card.
Some actions take longer in ts7 as they did in ts6.6. Is this becuse of my video card?
What video card would I get to handle truespace 7? |

It's asking for a "Registration Number"
I don't think I know what that is. |

I'm guessing it's the same as your serial number you used when you first installed ts7. I found my serial number in my confirmation email when I ordered the upgrade.
Good Luck!

Well, I did it. I reinstalled ts7 and now it works great!
There is one problem: I just tried to "import" one of my old ts7 scenes and it won't let me. The "importer" is looking for ".RsScn" files and not ".rscn" files.
How can I get my .rscn files back into the library from which they came??
Thanks very much |

Hmmm, what if you rename the extension to what ts is looking for on old file? |

Sounds like a hassle to have to rename the file extension. Why should that be necessary? |

That was my similar comment during beta testing :(
As you can see, format extension changes are made regardless :( |

Please bring back a simple load and save function instead of libraries only, it would bring the confusion to an end, like in which library I can load this or that object type. I prefer to have my projects organized in folders on a physical harddisc, instead of a virtual library. Imagine how many libraries one will have over several years of work with truespace. In time we will need a library manager to keep track. |

here is a post with a script to import rsscn..or it might be RsScn
http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=299&page=4
if its the wrong type then take an existing rsscn file... rename yours to that name, first renaming the original..

Well, I tried renaming the files but it just puts something in the library called "Layers Info" and nothing happens when I click on it.
It would seem that I lost everything that I created in ts7 over the last couple of months.
I just wanted a nice clean running version of trueSpace7. Now I'm really starting over. |

Putting it in a library folder won't do it. Go into the scene library, right click, choose import scene, then point to the file. I did the same mistake as well, too confusing :( |

That's what I've been doing; importing from the scene library.
But this is where it looks for "RsScn" files.
The files I have are in the "rs scenes" directory and have an extension of "rscn".
renaming and importing these files causes ts7 to place something in the library called "Layers Info" and this file does nothing when clicked on.
I am lost, I don't know how to fix it... |

I've tried it myself, without luck. I seriously think that the library system needs a lot of attention. I still can't figure out what all the extensions stand for and where or in which library I have to load which files.
Before there have been objects and scenes which we could save and load. And a few libraries that were quite easy to handle.
Now we have:
rscn
RsScn
RsLibScn
RsObj
RsLibObj
RsPrf
RsLibPrf
rcd
rsl
llib
rsitem
rsprj
and hundreds of folders. If I want to import a scene library, I don't know where to look for. In fact I haven't found any library to import. I guess that's because we can't export libraries? So what's the benefit of importing something that can't be exported/saved?
Anyone like the load/save menus? |

Hi GraySho, if you r-click over a library titlebar or object in a library , you should be able to export this to a filename and folder of your choice.
You should also then be able to r-click and import the object or library back into the library stack.
If however you have never exported the library or the object , which kind of packs it up into a transportable format , and ensures the library is safe for later re-importing , then you will not be able to reimport it again. |

I have a current backup of my Ts7.11 and I export my changed libraries daily. This worked out for me when it crashed on my Monday and then would not restart. I just looked at the error log and replaced the files it pointed to. That may help you for future reference. Put the files on a disk, and then make exports of your libraries and save each scen and object as you go. Just in case. ;) |
