The past couple of days, tS66 has starting acting weird.

When I select a face it will not stay selected. It doesn't stay selected with either a click or using the group selection icon. If I use Faces>Select Using Freehand or Select using Rectangle/Lasso as soon as I release the mouse, no faces are selected.

The only way I can select a face now is to do it one at a time and hold Ctrl when I select it.

Any ideas, was there a mystery button activated?

Make sure the framed icons are not active. If "remove from selection" is active, it will behave exactly as you have described.

Evidently it isn't selected as I don't even see that icon. Any other ideas?

Yes it is James! Notice the far right bottom icon in your screen shot. It's really difficult to distinguish but it's highlighted(white background as opposed to light gray as with the other two - really tough to see; it's one of the few in that tool group that will not display a yellow border when active!). That particular icon is used to deselect a vertice, face, etc from a group selection without removing anything else. If active and nothing is selected, you will be unable to select anything as you described.

Don't worry about the "FF" icon, that's either a plug-in or a tS7 thing.

Ah, good catch!

I only have partial vision in my right eye and is probably why I didn't see it. heh

Thanks for the help!

This is a known problem.

I hope tS7.5 developpers will take care of adding the orange rectangle outline for selected add/remove/intersect selection icons rather than the current white outline.

But there is also an other bug source of errors. I am using trueSpace since many years and I still get caught by this one : you can activate both Add to selection AND remove from selection AT THE SAME TIME !!!

I don't know if this one could get fixed though...

I don't think that's a bug as much as a planed feature. By having both add to selection and remove from selection icons active one can build a selected group, but if a face or vertices is mistakenly added to the group it can be removed simply by clicking on it a second time without disturbing or losing the other selected points.

It is also an effective way to "reverse" or invert selected faces or vertices by enclosing the entire object, or at least the area of selected points with a bounding box or the freehand lasso. Any selected point will deselect while any unselected point will change to selected.

I think this was their intention because that was their explination in the manual and it works exactly as they explain. It has come in handy for me when working with really complex meshes.
