I saw a fix in here but can't find it right now I think Tom posted it

On running TS7.11 under Vista 32 bit I'm getting the tragic

'trueSpace has stopped working' error dialog

Keywords: Vista fix problem installing running mayday Tom :)

TIA!

(yes merry keyboard-basher I know I was never promised trouble-free TS7 running under Vista I am prepared for that with dual-boot to XP SP2. Pioneers laddie) :)

I beg your pardon Norm! Sorry mate

Here's Norm's fix for Vista

I can confirm that it works Norm and thank you yet again what a team you have there at Caligari, marvellous.

Re: tS7 and Windows Vista

If you check your trueSpace7.11 installation directory in the ts/scripts folder, you will find a file called init.js. This file has a loading scenario for opengl, which we can turn off, by commenting out one of the lines of code. We can comment the whole line by using // at the beginning [of that line]

You can load the file in notepad to edit. Use notepad's Edit/Find and search for:

14640977-24EE-4A07-8028-EDFED6E0E3EE

It is a ways down the init.js file, but when you find that line, place the // at beginning/left of the line [this will disable that line] Save the file, being careful to save it as init.js and not init.txt. When you go to save the file, use the "type" dropdown list to change it to "All Files"

Once you have completed the save, restart trueSpace7.11 and let me know what you find.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Hi.

I have tried to carry out this fix but I still cannot start TS7.

I get a message which says -

TS7.exe Entry point not found

The procedure EntryPoint lwDetectHDRIMapType could not be located in the dynamic link library Lipro.dll

I would welcome any advice on what to do to get TS7 running under Vista

Thanks

MalD

Maybe reinstall TS7 Mal and set the XP SP2 Compatibility option for the installer?

Right-click on the TS7 executable and there in the Properties are the options when running the installer
