It has been suggested to me that I should start a dedicated thread to this device as there are bits of info all over the forums. So...
Firstly, this is an amazing device for the price...£44 delivered to UK maybe less in dollars for the US market. It is small but heavy and feels very well made. An eerie blue glow comes from the bottom of the device when it is active
Bottom line...it looks and feels very cool.
Now for the compatibility...
1. First things first. The truball.tsx plug in works fine in model side of tS7 so if you get one...you can use it straight away. I will try to video it in use later and post...it really is smooth.
2. There is a program on the 3Dconnexion site (forums) that lets you bind the SN to joystick, mouse or keyboard inputs so I am guessing you could use the FPN mode in trueplay to navigate around using the SN.
3. A rep from 3D connexion has made contact with Caligari as they are keen to get the device into many 3D apps and they are very much aware of tS and tP.
4. I have been told that it might not be too hard to work this into ts7.5, certainly the LE means that anyone with the right skills can put objects and scripts into tS...Wigan already did one but I am yet to get it running right due to my poor German...
And that is all I know so far. I am very happy with my purchase and can see it being an invaluable tool for tS and other apps...there is even a plugin for Photoshop to zoom and pan around images.
if you use some of the other 3D apps...then even better as many are alrady supported.
Please feel free to add to this thread any info or suggstions that might help integrate this great device into tS.
Oh, and one other parting gift...if you want a new mouse to go with this device and dont want RSI...then check out this;

I am new to Camtasia so excuse the quality of this video. Nor is it an exciting project-just a cube, but I wanted to show how you can navigate around an object while in edit mode without having to move your cursor away from the object...with a bit of practice you could really aid productivity.
Jerky movements are probably a result of too much beer last night...:o |

He said he'd make the source available for someone to recompile in English. I think I've got the freebie v. of Visual Studio on a magazine cover disc somewhere, I'll see if I can find it later.

Standard Photoshop plugin format? If so it should [in theory] work with PSP as well.

Looks like MS's inferior version of Logitech's MX1000 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CL/EN,CRID=3,CONTENTID=9043). You can still get them, even though Logitech seems to have stopped making them. I know there's the MX Revolution, but to me it doesn't look as good.

Did you tilt that face with the SN as well? |

I got the program running but I need to get it to navigate around the scene not to control an object. Standard photoshop plug in...yes!
Face was tilted with standard PE tools (off screen). God only know if you could do it with the SN.
MS mouse is very nice...it holds very different to standard mice...like shaking hands. |

Well... if you weren't using it in joystick mode for trueball, you could set it to bind to keyboard & then just modify the standard nav widgets [don't ask me how to do the last bit though, I've not got round to modifying widgets yet :)].

Cool.

See comment about binding to keyboard & widgets.

As that's something I never enjoyed, I think I'll stick to Logitech. :D |

It is much better than this in reality. I had to grab a small window view but it runs cleaner in the main workspace. Also, the video is a bit choppy and I am still learning to use the device smoothly-it is very responsive...maybe too much for my large hands...:D :D |
