After simbiont uninstall, the complaints about it being missing during ts7 start might just be that ts7 autoloads the latest scene that contained it....shouldn't be a problem though?
(I usually always click the new scene button before closing ts7...I'm sure there's a better way but never bothered to look it up ;) )

I don't know about TS7, but in TS5 this is fairly easy to solve - under file, preferences you get a little panel with a bunch of tickbox items, one of which is autoload, which you can then turn off. Of course, if you think you've got a problem scene you should just be able to start truespace by double clicking on an alternate scene in explorer..? |

Yes same (Electron for the wimps) with the 16bit? addon graphics hardware and then the fabulous Archimedes later.
I did have an Electron at 1 point [cost me less than a tenner, IIRC], but as I was used to using Beebs with 5 1/4" FDDs at school, it was a bit of a disappointment to be stuck with an Electron & a tape recorder out of school hours, plus most of the software [read: games :)] I'd managed to get to use on the Beebs at school wouldn't run on the piddly little Electron [took tape recorder to school & transferred the games to tape]. Eventually I managed to get a BBC B, & 1 of those double over-&-under 40/80 track drives, the maths co-processor [AKA the Plus1 unit], & a bunch of ROMS. Had to mod it as well. It had a series 7 mobo, on which the video ULA got really hot, so I got a heatsink for it, but it was pretty naff, just had a fin at each end, so had to cut a hole in the top of the case & mount a fan on top.
Speaking of old silicon that gets hot, I think I still have my ZX81 somewhere... :D
3D graphics on the Atari 520? with the RAM pack. Still got the manuals.
Never had an Atari, I was stuck with the Beeb until I got a 2nd hand 286 laptop for £20 in '97 |

Yes, in the earlier versions autoload was one of the first things to uncheck, and that's still a good advice :)
In ts7 however, if we have the "Bridge" turned on (between the ts6modeler and ts7player) the scene seems to be saved during the conversion, and then, if I create a new scene, create some stuff, close ts without saving, and the next time I open ts the scene will be there. Can be nice, just as autoload, but annoying if the scene created a problem....but then there is a file we can remove...don't remember the name though. (Was discussed in another thread.)
However, if the bridge is turned off, the autoload works as in previous versions ( not sure though , since I always have autoload turned off ;))
My personal recommendation for someone who want's to use simbiont in ts7 renders with the LightWorks engine(simbiont is not yet supported by VRay), is to turn off Bridge and the option to see textures in Model's shaded mode. It will give a performance boost since tS then doesn't have to render out the simbiont as a color-texture to be able to show it in realtime (so, the color tex will render in VRay, but not bump or reflection even if the simbiont has that.). |
