Hi! The one thing that really gets to me with Truespace is the way Edges, Verts and faces are manipulated. When I tried the demo of 3D Studio Max and Cinema 4D they had awesome ways of moving vertices and faces.
I can't seem to get on with the way Truespace does it. The whole clicking on the x-y-z buttons to manipulate faces and verts doesn't seem to work properly.
I don't understand how to use them properly and it really puts me off modelling in Truespace. I found a really awesome modeller called Silo that has modelling tools that kick butt. Believe me when I say it is o much easier to model in Silo than it is to model in Truespace.
If I could have a normal Silo or 3ds Max style way of moving verts, edges and faces it would make my life so much easier when using Truespace.
Are there any plans to change the way this works in Truespace?
Thanks and I hope you guys understand what I'm meaning by manipulating faces, verts and edges.

You're right about Silo being awesome. There are quite a bit of us using Silo and TS. Not sure about teaching an old dog new tricks. TS7.5 will show me where we're headed... |

Hi Amon!
I am not a fan of 3D widgets, especially when it comes to polygon editing. My trueSpace 6.6 setup involves a very clean workspace - minimum icons. I rely much more on keyboard shortcuts. Usually one hand's on the mouse and the other on the left side of the keyboard. To me, you can't get much faster than using keyboard shortcuts.
Here are the keys I use the most:
Eye Move - Q
Eye Rotate - W
Eye Zoom - E
Object Move - A
Object Rotate - S
Object Scale - D
Point Move - Z
Point Rotate - X
Point Scale - C
Use Object Coord - 1
Use World Coord - 2
Use Screen Coord - 3
PointEdit:Edges - R
PointEdit:Faces - F
PointEdit:Vertices - V
Add Edges: Ctrl + E
Sweep: Shift + S
Delete Vertices: Ctrl + D
Delete Face: Ctrl + F
Object Tool - Spacebar
Object Tool Right Click - Shift + Spacebar
Toggle Grid - G
Render Object - ~ (Handy for doing quick test renders)
Render Scene - Shift + ~
These are just for native tS tools. I also have plugins hotkeyed - especially the CK Game Factory PolyTools.
Just looking at the layout on screen may not make sense, but check out where the keys line up on the keyboard. Having the Use Object/World/Screen Coords options hotkeyed is really handy for when, say, you are in perspective view but want to move a face along its surface normal - just hit 1 and use the right mouse button in Point Edit: Move mode. |

Yeah, I'm eagerly awaiting TS 7.5 to see what goodies will be on offer.
Thanks for the tips, frank. I'll try that now. :) |

I still can't get them to work properly. I get weird results trying each form ie. object coords, world coords etc. An example would be a vert moving diagonally when it should be moving just left and right.
All I want is for a vert or face to move forward/backwords, up/down, left/right properly like in apps like Silo or 3D Studio Max. Even Cinema4D has a good way of manipulating these things.
Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get this done properly. |

Tried using 4 view layout? Front, side, top, etc? It's the only way I model Things move the way you want then. I've never been able to work properly in just one '3d' view, things never go the way you expect! It's also much easier to line things up properly in four view.
Might help. |
