I just installed truePlay on my "once new" PC, which runs on Windows Vista. Every time I try to run it I get a message that looks like the image attached to this post. What's going on? Is this a known problem? And is there a solution?

I hope so...ThanX.:(

Have you right clicked the program before you ran and click "run as administrator"?

Have you ever had DirectX 9 on this computer yet? Did you upgrade to TruePlay 1.2 before trying to connect? The missing file on an XP computer is found in the C:/Windows/System32 directory not sure where it would be in Vista. It looks like a missing Microsoft file.

There are some DX files that microsoft is purposefully not including in Vista. It's a violation of the licence agreement but you can copy the files from XP into their directories in Vista and your app should work.

I just installed truePlay

Did you right-click on the executable to get at its Properties and then did you install truePlay in Compatibility mode?

Thanks for all the comments!

I got it working now. Turns out that Vista comes with DirectX 10, and truePlay was looking for a file that comes with v9. I just reinstalled truePlay, but this time I checked off the "Check and Install DirectX" option.

Thanks again!:jumpy:
