I'm trying to animate a baby for a Marketing class, but don't have the tech savy way to do it.

My plan is to just use the 3d baby that comes with Truespace and add a skeleton. I was wandering what would be the best way to go about this.

Thanks,

hi, you could try using truespace's own bone system, try this tutorial:

or use motion studio:

it's just a case of making the skeleton you want, setting up the joints, glueong it to the skin and then keyframing the animation right. Sounds simple when you put it like that but animation in truespace can be frustrating at times but rewarding when it works well.

The best way would be to wait for tS7.5 with the new skeletal system.

well yeah that would be easier

if he tried to follow one of those tutorials he could still be at it when 7.5 is released, but give them a try if your in a hurry marcnoon

but if you are doing this for a marketing class then you probably have a deadline right? tS 7.5 is not due for release til April 30 or so. If you do have a deadline I would recommend using mostu, and not the tS bones system. MoStu is by far much easier to use.

CRUCIAL QUESTION - What version of tS are you using? - the bones in the model side of 7.1 don't work correctly. I wasted a lot of time thinking I was doing something wrong only to discover the process worked fine when I returned to ts 6.6. One of the reasons why despite the fact that I've had 7.1 for over a year I hardly use it (can't wait for 7.5 though!!)

It's version 6.6, but it's with the new upgrade to 7.5 when it comes out.

I'm trying to make a sketch for an imaginary product line, we have to make a press release, a video advertisement, do market analysis for the product, and have a cool banner for the product.

Since two of us are working on the video I was trying to convert the story boards to video. The imaginary product is supposed to be an Edu-tainment Baby Simulator targeted for girls btw 6 and 13. The idea for the advertisement is you have two competing girls trying to take care of their actual baby doll, and the progress bar goes up or down depending on how well you do. The first girl totally fails, and then it switches to the other girl who is a miracle working, and then they meet, and they jump up and down and the miracle worker shows the other girl some technique, and then it switches to the a quick blurb about the product in case the parents need more information for about 3 sec w/ a quick mention about any inventory, warranty, and tax, as well as availability.

So I just drew out everything and used an actual teddy bear instead and the whiteboard as background and just drew the scenes and acted out the 45 sec advertisement with another guy with a camera. Its due Wednesday, and I have reserves this weekend.

I would try that other product, but I invested a ton in Flash 8, and Truespace 6.6 and 7.5 this term.

What's funny is 5 guys on my team thought of this:banana: , but it wasn't really my idea to start off with :D . I guess sometimes you just have to go with the group.:jumpy:
