I use verion 6.6
as a general concept, upto what past versions of trueSpace tutorials are compatible for use in 6.6, and what subjects/procedures are not compatible?

Also, can the procedures and tutorials for version 7+ work in 6.6... or better stated, from what I read abt using 7+, what Can't be incorporated in 6.6?

For example... I wanted to enlarge the icons in 6.6, but found how to do it only for 7.1+. Would it work for 6.6? and uhh (dang it; exposin' my noviceness right from the start:) )... how the heck do I do it.?

Any effort Greatly appreciated

Hi,

For example the Vray interior lighting its fully compatible with 6.6 less the part of vray bouncing lights.. Make a clock is compatible too..

are few tutorials with scripts who are made to be used with the LE (7.11) those are not compatible with 6.6

Far as i know you cannot enlager your icons.. You can do over 7.11 because the LE let you touch internal things like icons, widgets, add settings..

6.6 is very limited on that part..

hope that helps..

Thank you Prodigy.
VRay is a add on/plug in, and can understand that part of it may not work with past versions. I'm trying to understand where the changes are, so what may be valid and what not, but I am still trying to understand even the basics of this new world. My artistic abilities are muuuuch better than my computer skills at this level, but it'll be a while before I can show it (actually have finished my 1st animation and am working on a real concept, but back to the topic)

for example... I have a plug in titled 'Color Gradient'. It says to copy .tss files into my trueSpace4 Shaders/Materials directory. Is TS4 procedure/directions any different for my version 6.6?
How exactly do I DO that?
I copy the .tss file, then what/where is the exact procedure after that? Do i go into my TS screen, open 'Materials' icon, open small file icon at top, and right click mouse and paste there (that didn't work by the way), or ... what?
LOL... it may seem simple to those that have walked a path a few times, but for me, well, definitely new world.

How to apply a shader:
First, move or copy the tss file into your tS/shaders/material/ directory.
Some shaders, like Shaderlab or Shadermagic, will have different locations.
Open the Material Editor. (Control M)
Left, then Right Click on the 'Color: plain color' icon in the ME window.
In the Color Shaders Library, locate your desired shader and left click it. To show or hide the shader parameters, click the small red arrow in the color channel. To close the Shader Library, click the standard 'X' -or- quickly right-click-drag and release over the Library window.
To apply the Shader to your object, click the 'Paint Object' icon in the ME.

This shows that I am doin it right. tS is quite intuitive once one gets the swing of it (all 3 mouse buttons are useful most of the time).
Your pics also show me that I don't have the 'Color Gradient' plugin that's stored on my puter. Dat's my dilemma: Exactly how do I, and exactly where do I go to incorporate the .tss files into tS? I right click and save the .tss files, THEN exactly what?
Simple huh?:) But that's where I get stuck. I'm a physical artist swimming in a digital medium. Computer procedures.

I dont have installed right now, cos im in work. but i remember you must move the tss inside the TS folder, shaders, and you have 2 folders.. One called Global and Materials.. Sorry i cant remember.. but search global inside truespace and you find these 2 folders..

Global is for the Post Process filters, and the other folder was i call "materials" because i dont remember, you must move these kind of shaders inside that folder..

And a plus, if you add a shader, you first must reset TS..
