When I switch the display from a single view to a 4 view display, everything is OK until I try to change the 4 view display from a solid display to wireframe. When I do TS 6.6 crashes. Is there a setting that I can change that controls how the 4-view display is initally displayed when selected. It allways seem to default to a solid render type. See attached image.

Also is this a indication of memory problems?

Thanks.

It looks like you are in OpenGL mode- try switching to Direct3D or wireframe before you go to 4 pane view. This icon is on the bottom right next to the (-) minimize button.
Each pane can have it's own mode-wireframe, solid, etc, and also can have separate settings for texture display resolution- you might have these set 'too high'- Check the Display Options panel for each pane and set them to a lower texture resolution. Turn off all the bells and whistles and work your way up until you get a balance of performance.
Once it stabilizes save the config in the Config Library.
I know you can choose the desired display mode (Direct3D, Wireframe, etc) before opening a small view by right-clicking on the 'New foo Window' icon, but this only works in Standard Views Layout.

Thanks, that did the trick. Changing to open GL. I still believe that it has something to do with memory as everthing else seems to be working :) ok.

From the screengrab, you were in OpenGL originally. Note that for the last 3 years or so, all "regular" graphics cards have given better DirectX support rather than OpenGl - OpenGL has become something of a specialist format and is only better supported on some high end CAD only cards (which do very badly at 2D and games compared to the graphics cards you normally have).

So changing to DirectX (or D3D as it may be called) should help, as Spacekdet suggested. Meantime it looks like both your screengrabs show you in the same OpenGL mode. Unless you have an older card, probably worth giving D3D a try to see if it improves performance :)

HTH!

Yes, you are right. I didn't notice that the screen grab showed I was in open GL. I have always been using direct 3D. It just now on this particular model that TS started crashing when I tried switching and working in the 4 pane view. Thats why I figured it had something to do with memory. I tried turning off all of the layers except for one and tried both open GL, Direct 3D, and wireframe display, but it still crashed in all modes when I did anything in one of the views. I was able to get thing working when I modifed D3D settings (as suggested). I don't really know what all these settting do, so I guess I need to review the pdf manual. Visually I don't see much change to display after turning off most of the setting. Attached is an upated display.

Thanks.:)
