I started this about a hour ago. It going to be a GraveYard game model pack for games like MMORPG,RPG type of games. If you were to make a game and needed such models would these be good enough to buy? I am planning to make more tombs, headstones, fences, and some sort of graveyard keeper shed. These would be attened for programers. These are a little easy to make to sell to artist.

nice start, how about some bump mapping/displacement mapping. Would be cool to have some broken tomb stones too, and maybe one with a huge crack in the middle. and a full grave with a skeletons hand pointing out heh heh. Keep on trucking!

You have the basic idea now Don, keep pushing it along...
Bushes, leafless trees, environments, atmosphere... a castle, an old stone bridge, old iron gates attached to old stone wall... a gargoyle or 2 would not hurt.
If you need some reference I can provide you some QTVR's of old cemetery's from around me. I have a fair number of them kicking around.
One of the Old Stone Church is in the Architecture thread here, that site and church would make an excellent scene to duplicate for a game content pack...

Good Luck, sounds like a fun project.

Thanks Rich if you dont mind I could use some ref. I will look that thread up to have a look. I am going to make alot of content and give away some and try to sell the rest. The gargoyle sound like fun to make thanks for the suggestions. That QTVR was awesome. That church has an unique look to it

you should have not only cracked and broken stones, but new ones and old one. The ones you have now would be middle range... old, but not too old. You need some really old and cracked ones and some shiny new ones.

Give me an email address to send some QTVR's to Don and how much your email can handle. I have 4 done in lower resolution (under 1 meg) the originals ranged from 100megs to 200 megs. I will probably do another 3-5 of varying types of "feel"...

Keep me posted of your progress on these, it will be interesting to see what you do.

I took them with a digital camers, than I use one of 3 programs to put them together, Stitcher by RealViz at Realviz.com, PhotoshopCS3 or Autopanopro at AutoPanoPro.net. You can use this program to convert a cubic project or a spherical to a QTVR movie http://www.clickheredesign.com.au/cubicconverter/

It's free. Autopano Pro is only 99 EUROs (about 138.00 USD) it does a nice job stitching together partial panos, full 360 X 180 panos as well as HDR panos... very cool program.

As far as the helping bit... well... now you have to go out of your way to help someone else on the forums... :D it's da law!!! hehehe

As far as additional info, I literrally have dozens of cemetery panos, most of them are partial. Ya go me thinking, I spent maybe 4-5 hours testing and rendering QTVR's for you which got me working on a couple of different ideas.... and it is getting close to that time of the myear.... so don't be surprised to see a couple of scenes along the same theme from me :) Thanks for the incentive.

PSCS3 is a very cool program, I am using the extended version which has many cool toys to play with. But if you are only going to use it for panos (which full sphericals is not it's strong point) you might want to try some of the free or more affordable ones first.

These are a good round up of many of the ones available.

Quick question in the image below are 3 headstones which is one mesh and three textures. Would it be overboard to make 2 versions of each wear/age of the headstonse? It would be a texture for new, mid, old and a second version of each. That would put me at 6 textures per model well when I export them out I will export 6 models. I have 4 headstone models made if I do what I said above that would put me at 24 exported models. Would you think that it would look to similar becasue I am just using four different shapes or does the textures make them look enough different. On the bottom image the 2 headstones in the middle are Version 1 and Version 2 of mid/aged headstone

To answer the question, the textures do make them look a bit different, but I would also go for shapes... mostly military graveyards have headstones that all are the same shape/size

Right now I have 3 different models. I have two sets complete. The one with the cross on top I am still working on the 5 other textures. I going to finish it first then make 1 or 2 more model and texture those and call it quits on the headstones and move on to the tombs

@kena

I hope when I get done I have a assortment of models the level designer can use he might not use them all

@mrbones

Zombies in the grave yard would make a good sig/AD and it would bring the scene alive err.. undead.. well at least make it look more action packed

not too bad at all.. you might want to include the Star of David for that other religion ;)

The variety is very good though.

Thanks, I am glad you pointed that out. I am thinking about the other religions and almost did not put the cross in there. I am going to do a little research and try to include some more

Hi Dononeton.

This is great stuff you made, nice modeling and texturing work without the highpoly overhead.

The other day I downloaded that old free 3D drawing-to-model application called "teddy" and was playing around with making some random shapes. As I was doing it I thought of what you were doing in this thread since many of the shapes I was making seemed alot like alien versions of bones.

It occurred to me at that time that if I made a small collection of alien bones variants like this it could be cool to use as an alien bones "junkyard" of spare parts for the assembly of actual rigged skeletal aliens for game environments... so I made a quick batch to give you for this effort or a similar one, so you can give it away as a freebie along with any related offerings you intend to sell if you wish.

Feel free to modify it, ignore it, delete it or whatever! It only took a few minutes to whip up so I really don't care much about it. It could be usefull though perhaps to your target market in some way, so here it is.:)

The ts6.6 scene follows the image in a zip file.

All the best,

3dvisuals dude
