Running TS 7.5 in Direct 3d mode is a no go for me. I keep getting an error saying it can't switch and instead goes to wireframe.

I'm running Intel Pentium D dual core 3.2 ghz processor, 2Gigs of RAM, a Nvidia 7950 GTX on a 30in Dell monitor (2560x1600). All drivers seem to be up to date and certified. WinXP

Any ideas out there?

- driver 93.71?

- have you start trueSpace with Ctrl+Left mouse button at trueSpace startup icon (shown Pixmap Mode DDB, Realtime Mode DirectX)?

- where does the error occur, at Workspace and/or Modeler site?

Yes - i had the current driver - for some bizarre reason I upgraded to Vista and now have 158.something - but I'm getting the same problem with D3D not working.

Tried the second tip and get the same problem.

Problem occurs most noticeably in Modeller - basically the screen is blank (grey) no grid, nothing. When trying to size the panel, the icons get repeatedly left behind and remain.

That being said - OpenGL seems to work fine. But something about not getting/having all options work is driving me crazy.

Perhaps the actual graphics hardware is faulty...ugh.

There are new (158.24) beta drivers out as well but here's the links for those and the (158.18) Vista drivers:

If you have 32-bit Vista:

158.24 -- http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_158.24.html

158.18 -- http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_158.18.html

If you have 64-bit Vista:

158.24 -- http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_158.24.html

158.18 -- http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_158.18.html

Hope that helps!

Modeler and Workspace have different realtime engines, and this message just affects the Model side.

Some things to try - right click on the D3D icon in the Model side and see what is enabled in there. Ensure that it is Direct 3D HAL mode and not Software Emulation. You can use Software Emulation if the HAL mode doesnt work, which might be caused by the point below -

As well as ensuring your drivers are up to date, ensure your DirectX is up to date too (should be if you are on Vista, never hurts to try though). Try running DXDIAG.EXE and see what it says. Sounds rather like DirectX is not installed.

Thanks!

Tom

I found Truespace very unstable on the latest drivers and went back to 84.something. Not had any issues at all since then.

Cheers
