When in top view, I find that rotation is constrained when using ctrl+x (or object rotate icon). All axes are on, and coord system is world.

Wanting to rotate spotlight. Can rotate freely using widget but why not with "rotate" mode? Same goes for other objects too.


Which brings to mind... how quick it would be with point and click (or point and click-drag) to set direction for spotlight. see illustration:

I find also that the "look from object" camera function is not (yet?) in workspace, so that method can not be used to set spotlights.

I almost always use camera view to aim my spots now. Haven't tried it in 7.5 yet.

We do need your suggestions added to next release.

The old method was to create a dummy target object and use the "look at" tool.


This has the added benefit that the dummy object could then be keyframed and moved around to animate the spotlight movement.
