Booleans, I try to avoid them - because people say so - but I still use them, a lot, to drill holes for windows, or combine shapes etc. In tS 7.5 that means switching a lot between workspace and modeler. Unless there is some smart way to do it, perhaps using the LE? Is there?

Otherwise I would ask to port this functionality to the workspace asap, I miss my little boolean bubbles there.

The normal-sweep is cool though, it works very fast & intuitive.

For making holes and joining meshes that are part of the same object, you can use the polygon bridge/blend tool.

Alas booleans is one of the things we still have to go to model side for. :(

Thanks again Jack. You're always very quick, and helpful :)

I have used the polygon bridge, but for the task at hand (drill a number of holes in walls of an old country house, to insert window-frames and windows, of different sizes) that would be an awkward procedure. The wall just is a big rectangle :o

I haven't use the blend tool though, and will look into it.

In another, for example, project I need gothic windows. So normally I make the pointed arch by booleaning 2 circles, and then boolean in a rectangle, for the body of the window, and then again use that as a drill and boolean myself through the wall again, creating a row of windows :p

I haven't found a way to do that in the workspace yet. Still, it's very basic when creating illustrations for cultural multimedia.

I trust that the team will eventually port that to the workspace too, now the new architecture is in place.

Thanks again

You can use the polydraw tool to draw the outlines of the windows, then use the bridge tool to connect the newly created polys. ;)

If you're planning to export you'll want to make sure to add extra edges to maintain quads.
