I found Vray texturing seemed hit-and-miss (it's me I'm sure) under 7.5 so I'm continuing to build my scene in 7.11 and moving more slowly to 7.5 hopefully learning one smaller thing at a time. Following the tale of the fox that must know many little things but the hedgehog only needs to know one big thing :)

Could someone please explain how to render an object using the Vray render materials in the Workspace please? I found that switching between Workspace to Vray render and Model to do Boolean functions meant that the Vray-rendered object loses its texture on returning to the Workspace. Is there something obvious I'm missing please? It's quite likely to be me because I can see the funnel in the Workspace but the Material Editor is different of course in there. The bridge is On although I see this morning that Prodigy mentions that there's a Full Merge which maybe needs to be toggled on to solve the missing Workspace texture mysteriousness?

Thanks for any help offered!

My scene under 7.11 looks ok for lighting but when I open the scene under 7.5 the lighting is way off - is there a way to get the 7.11 lighting settings into 7.5 please, so that the scenes are identically lit?

I notice that (for me running both Workspace and Model windows with bridge on and Full Merge) an area light will not change in brightness when Model-side changes are made to the area light's Properties panel. In the Vray render I mean. But there's an Area Light appears in Settings (I think or Panels) and that will correctly operate the area light's brightness in the Workspace... wonder why just that Area Light pops up in that panel anyway, there's an Inflight but that doesn't show up. It's as if 7.5 knows something :)

The area light's properties appear jumbled up between Workspace and Model windows and sliding up the Model windows area light's brightness caused TS7.5 to disappear running under XP. Not a crash it just vanished without so much as a wave or a tearful eye :)

Still determined to shift over to 7.5 by hook or by crook but I think this area light awkwardness needs looking at - or explaining to me if possible, could be absolutely normal behaviour of course. Very interesting too is that I couldn't get rid of patchy Vray renders (fine and smooth in 7.11) and tried everything- what fixed it was to simply take the area light away from the windows about 10 metres. Light is light and a light's lower brightness but closer should equal higher brightness but further away all else being equal. Ah an area light is not a point source yes and anyway it worked. So a way to get 7.11's good lighting into the same scene but 7.5 would be useful if anyone knows the trick please. 'Make a note of the settings' hmm I did that. Something else changes between versions- and it's Vray's updated version perhaps

Talking about the awkwardness always gives me encouragement don't mind me trying to thrash it out with appeals to reason lol, something about crystallising the day before's work (play) keeps the eye on the good stuff possible under 7.5. Eventually :)
