Q1- What & when do you use LW Shaders and VRay ones? Whats the difference?

Q2 - As I play with the shaders, my preview spheres don't update. I've tried it in both "Static" and "Live" modes.

Q3 - When I switch to model view my object reverts back to the default texturing. (My bridge is turned on BTW)

Can anyone give some advice?

Thanks!!

Do you have VRay installed? TS uses VRay to update the material spheres workspace side.

There does appear to be something going on with textures returning to default settings when transferred across the bridge scorp, I think it's been reported as something to look at for Caligari support. We may be missing something though and a tutorial would be good <looks around pleadingly like a puppy dog> :)

No, I don't have V-Ray (Maybe for Christmas...) So that would explain why my preview spheres aren't rendering.......

Hmmm, does that mean if I get V-Ray later, I would have to re-texture my old objects to use the Vray shaders?

Also, does the workspace side use LW shaders at all? Whever I click on my material spheres (Color, Displacement, Transparency, Refelectance) it always opens the V-Ray library stuff. And on my toolbar (in Workspace view) all my render options are V-ray also.

I switched back to model view to render stuff - thats when I discovered that my surfacing wasn't carrying across the bridge.

Since I don't have V-Ray installed, shouldn't all the V-Ray stuff be inaccessable? (Or at least a message popup?)

Only Vray is integrated into the workspace side right now (well, that and the realtime DX view). All of the rendering engines are different, made by different companies, and process information differently, so they all use different shaders. Some cross compatibility is there, but it's always best to decide which render engine you are going to use for rendering before you apply materials to your objects so that you can use the shaders that will work best with that render engine.

So you might have to retexture your scenes for use with Vray if you've already textured them with Lightworks materials.

Dele I would swear I saw your answer days ago word for word. Maybe this question and answer could be put in FAQ?

or I'm having a flashback:)
