Hi folks,

I know there must be a simple way to do this, but I have already tried changing the background color in the Settings area and that didn't help...

I'm trying to get a black background color to render behind objects in a Vray render to screen (new render window) but everything I try keeps defaulting to the default blue background.

Any ideas?

This plagued me as well.

Right click on the vray render button to bring up the settings in the "Panels".

Left click on the "default" button in the photo-render menu and you will see a "background" menu.

The vray manual gives a wrong way to change the background btw (I think it's changed since 7)..

Thanks Transient !

Excellent directions, works like a charm !

I had almost given up hope on finding this and I used a black image in the background to get a similar effect, but your solution here is the right way to go for sure... thanks. :D

Now if I could just figure out how to get the workspace screen to update immediately whenever I change a Material Editor attribute with a Vray shader.... it doesn'y like to update at all and that is bugging me to no end also !

Someone said in another thread here that the ME icons should indicate when they are active (which they do not on my system) and I agree completely with that... my pointer doesn't appear to change either, making it absolute guesswork which slows the workflow down to a crawl.

Thanks again, excellent solution on the BG Color.

Ahah </lightbulb>

Sticking with 7.5 (on beta Vista drivers so checking versions) and Workspace- many application crashes with Modelspace onboard, not entirely unexpected, beta graphics card drivers...

Settings/Ground

Set both tiles to pink or whatever

Set Background to pink

Nice solid coloured background in Workspace on this system

I know I should say violet really but never mind that now, it works let's not get too technical :)

One more chain in the link needed then

Vray Render View still isn't pink background but it is pink in the Workspace window

Someone will know how to link the Workspace background to the actual Vray rendered frame I bet

Wait- more lightbulbs incoming

Ah now the Vray Render View is also background pink now that I follow transient's advice above... cool. Thanks again mate, another satisfied customer :)
