Just curious, is there a way to extrude edges in Workspace? When yes, how?

I haven't found it - I don't think it's in yet, but I've been playing with the 'plane' and Polygon Bridge/Blend...which might have possibilities along those lines.

Yes!...I've just successfully 'Bridged' a poly (the plane primitive) to an edge in another structure - it's not quite 'edge extrude' - but a good emulation,

Hope this helps at least a little,

As far as I know, you can't 'sweep' edges in either WS or Model

You can in TS 6.6, with the Polytools from CKGamesfactory. The tool is called Edge Extrude. Polygon bridge is no substitute unfortunately. And sweep at an edge does nothing.

No edge extrude means no way to model Poly by Poly. But sometimes you have to model Poly by Poly. I really hope that this option will be added to Workspace in the nearer future. Is an essential feature.

I have a feeling a whole new set of modeling tools is in the future for TS. TS7.5 was slated to be an character animation upgrade.

yes i miss the edge-extrude too.

This is my only way to model cars in poly technic.

Many poly by poly modeling tutorials based on the edgeextrude function.

Team Caligari ! Can we count on this very important tiny feature in 7.51 ?

For what it's worth, the CKGamesfactory Edge Extrude works fine in the 7.5 modeler mode. Edge extruding in workspace mode has me stumped though.

I know this isn't the same as being able to extrude, but have you guys tried to polygon blend an edge? :D

Heidi,

I tried bringing that up - I don't think they liked it...

It's not about like or dislike. As told, bridging is another thing than extruding ;)

Not to 'flog a dead horse' but I was fooling with some of the old 6.6 tools, and found out that the one native TS tool that does extrude edges is part of the 'Nurbs' section :)

(Just want to be thorough...)

Extruding a nurbs edge is great if your using nurbs but if your polygon modeling it is no help. The bridge tool can be used but makes the process of modeling 10 fold and not worth it. I have been asking for an extrude edge tool since version 2.0. I hope this will be added some time soon as I use this method a lot in my modeling....sure there are work arounds but as we all know time is money.....

Only real work around is to individually cut each poly with the polydraw tool then select the edges and translate them. But that's a LOT more work because the cutting has to be done accurately and two sets of edges have to be repositioned. So it's not a good substitute.
