I seem to remember that a R-Click on the hair density icon (or was it the length icon) would completely cover the selected object. Is this feature available as I would simply like to cover an object in fur/hair without drawing onto various areas.

That would be very nice. To be able to select an area and just fill it with hair ready to cut/style etc. None of my experiments did it though. If it was there before I hope they brig it back.
Cheers

In the "Snailey" thread, that's how Cousin Harry came about, an accidental click of a button and next thing you know I have this hairy snail...sorry I can't recall the situation that caused it.
Additional hair anomalie: I just now deleted a torus that had hair on it, and the hair stayed!  |

Select the object and click on the hair dryer tool, that does the job.

Madmouse, Thanks for that. Now to find a way to do it only to selected polygons. :D

Now to find a way to do it only to selected polygons
The best bet is to:-
1)...duplicate the object onto another layer.
2)...Select the faces you want hair on.
3)...Seperate them from the rest of the mesh.
4)...Delete the unwated area of the duplicate mesh.
5)...Then you can add hair to just the polygons you want.
6)...You can always seperate the hair from the mesh and delete the mesh just leaving the hair and the original mesh, if you want to be tidy.

Is there a way to delete single hairs?
I found that the existing Long Hair hairstyle in the Library always places hairs unevenly distributed laterally... ie: a few hairs on the right side (only) of the face emerge from the mid-cheek area instead of the scalp, while on the left side they emerge correctly. This is when applied to head models created in MakeHuman though, don't know if that matters.

There's no way to delete individual hairs, but you can delete hair from specific polygons.
Click on any hair tool, right-click to enter point edit and selec the faces where you want to remove the hair. While you're still in point edit mode, use the hair density bruse in subtract or minus mode to remove the hair from the selected faces.
Hair is distributed by vertice, so be sure to hit the vertice points of your selected faces if the hair seems stubborn. :) |

This niggled me a bit last night. Hell, I designed these icons and I couldn't remember which one did this.
Does anyone else think that the 'hairdryer' icon is possibly the least obvious for this function?
I was right clicking on the density and then the length icons to see if I could get instant hair. I mean the density icon sort of implies the placing of hair...well, better than one relating to wind anyway... |
