I thought I would not be able to join in the fun of tS 7.51 as when I first installed tS 7.51 on my desktop, over the 7.5 install, then tried to run it, I got errors:

Unknown software exception 0x0eedfade occurred in the application location 0x7c812a2b and then...

Runtime error 217 @ 0A44B37A

tS would not start

I then installed tS 7.51 on my laptop again over the 7.5 install and got the exact same errors :(

I then uninstalled tS 7.51, deleted the tS75 directory, then downloaded the bits again to be sure I did not have a bad download! I then did a "clean" install. I am now able to run the program :jumpy: but I am not sure what the fix was for the initial problem

Hope this helps someone else running into this issue.

Not sure why it was mentioned to install over the installed version. I could understand if this was a patch.
This is how I have been installing and works like a charm every time.
I first uninstall Vray then trueSpace75 from the Add and Remove program.
Navigate to the folder where it was installed and delete everything except (my files). Including log files, index, folders, etc...
So as an example I have my tS Library Place, Textures, and some tS6 files and that is it. I then install tS7.5.1 and Vray and Reboot my machine. I have done it this way several times with no apparent problems. Saves from having to Export and Import my files.
Helpful tip here too would be to save your Window.Shortcuts.xml file and replace it after installation because this file is removed during uninstall. Saves you from having to setup your shortcuts everytime.

My simple rule; install a patch over a full install as this is how it was meant to be.

But if you get a full install treat it as a new install but remember to back up your files first...:D

Don't know why it was recommended to install over 7.5. In beta's I used to have problems doing this. Since I started doing clean installs (I even remove Caligari registry entries) I have had no problems at all other than those inherent in the tS code (bugs)...:o

if you make install over existing ts7.5 installation, be sure to remove default.ctx and scripts\init.js files.

init.js is ts initialization script and it was changed a bit. it is auto generated but it is created only during first start.

default.ctx contains image of ts nodes (something like memory footprint) and it needs to be rebuild too.

Whew! good thing I haven't tried to start my installation yet... I've removed those files, so I'm ready when I get the rest inported.

Too late for me. I've already installed over 7.5 and the default.ctx and scripts\init.js files are gone. I installed 7.5 directly from the Web and don't have the installer because I ordered the CD/manual. What are my options?

You still have the installer file. You downloaded THEN installed remember? A lot of people installed the way you did. Many didn't have any problems at all. Try it and let us know.

You can revisit the download area anytime you wish actually. It is available for download as desired.
