I found that having workspace texture resolution set high (for nice clean realtime view) e.g 2048x2048 or 1024x1024 affects the speed of vray shader thumbnails. I reset to 256x256 and now vray shaders work fast again.


This is a bit of a problem as realtime view is blurry on some textures but at least I can work in it. So it seems that when you adjust vray shaders it must try and generate a new texture based on whatever the texture resolution you have set for workspace.


If this is correct then why does it do that? It should only need a small sample texture being generated. All of this is in the material editor in Workspace.


If the above is NOT clear then ask me for clarification. if it IS clear try it for yourself.
