My 7.11 scene is well lit
Now I want to move to 7.51 workspace and Vray 1.51 but saving the scene in 7.11 and opening it in 7.51 the lighting needs lots of work for some reason. I'd expected the scene to look just the same as in 7.11
If someone can please tell me how to change the Area light's luminance/attenuation and the Inflight's (just one of each light) in 7.51 to match the lights' values in 7.11 I'd be very grateful
For focus, I'd expect to make a note of the value of the brightness parameters for the lights under 7.11 and then somehow translate the values to an attenuation value in 7.51- if I'm understanding the lighting in workspace correctly and the 7.51 lights need an attenuation value not a luminance (brightness) value
I would also like to check that the lights in the 7.51 workspace are not blocking each other's light, so I know I must turn off both Cast Shadows and Receive Shadows for these two lights. How to do that please? TIA

This is a non-issue. Don't think about it. (The widgets do not render, normally) Unless you have your own mesh attached to the lights (like a lightbulb mesh) that is. |

Thanks Leif.
I see what you mean, the Workspace lights are only sort-of indicators that a light is at that position, they aren't solid objects so they don't block light
If I carefully make notes of the 7.11 lights' parameters is there a way to find where I can plug the values in to 7.51's lights?
Or maybe the other parameters have to be changed hmm- like samples and so on
Thank you for helping out Leif I'm sure it's not just me having this problem. Caligari might offer a script or something to translate the 7.11 lights' parameters to 7.51 lights' parameters along with all the other sampling settings in there. A sort of Rosetta Stone for lighting technicians :)
All goes well in 7.11 in Model mode so not a huge problem. I'm finding Vista to be very useful so I'm aching to get 7.51 Workspace to run under Vista as painlessly as 7.11 Modelspace under XP

:D looks funny.
I know that picture just as testscreen which appears at late night in "Life on Mars" (love that british series). |

Aaaaggghhh! I'm on my own with this one :)
Ok I'll drop everything and see if I can figure it out this week. Delete everything in the room interior and focus on taming the 7.51 lighting scheme. I may be some time and: there's what I'm working on, Dele's fascinating animated textures, the atmospheric planet to look at good grief I need an assistant. A lovely assistant. Ooh a Magic Show animation with ladies being sawn into sub-objects too. The call goes out for volunteers :)

Lighting cannot be controlled from Workspace, that's what the Model window is for

Strange, your lighting question was simple, but the answer appears to be anything but!
Enjoy your foray into the spaghetti bowl, uh, I mean LE.
Have fun in there!
