I was wondering if anyone had problems importing a rigged mesh into blender as I have found that blender's collada version is 1.4 and Caligari's is 1.4.1?

I can import the geometry of one mesh at a time but can't import a rigged mesh. I even went and tried to fix some of the python code but I don't know blender's api (just switched out deprecated functions in hopes that it would fix it but no).

Is the spec for the collada formats that much of a difference?

The only collada im/exporter for blender that I'm aware of is wip and doesn't seem to import skinned meshes or animation. Apparently it's slated for an upcoming release. Link (http://colladablender.illusoft.com/progress.html).

Thanks transient, I had actually saw that but did not read very much into it guess I thought it was supported bummer! oh well for the time being I'll use bvh for skeletal stuff and collada for geometry or the luuv plug-in to export .obj.

Just might have found something kinda funny with the import of skinned mesh's. Apparently they can at least according to when you download the latest releases and check the "changelog.txt" but I not sure as of yet need to test it out hopefully it does work which if it does the site needs to be updated but I could be wrong since I saw something in there about the summer of code in which it wouldn't be added until the end of summer. hope it works.

I saw that but thought it was just for exports, but it looks like I was wrong.

If you can figure out a way to get this to work it would be awesome.:)

I think caligari need to make .fbx support, the collada is a very old format and very incompatible because all the programs use diferent version not compatibles between.

The collada export probably need a option for export in old formats or be compatible with the fbx converter of autodesk
