Ok, after all these years maybe I should know this and I need to work in model for this for two reasons; my laptop cannot run workspace:( and the SDS in workspace in not compatible with model side.

Anyway, I am working on the little cloud scene and messing with the boys trousers (please don't quote out of context... ). I keep adding layers to check the outcome then removing layers togo back to edit.

How do I get it so it shows the nice smooth mesh but when I am editing all I can see is the original box mesh like a control cage around it?

Does this make sense? I will probably kick myself when I get the answer but I am nowhere near a manual.

Cheers.

Enter point edit mode on the SDS object. You get the spheres under the object representing the SDS levels applied, the right most sphere is largest.

Left click the leftmost sphere - you see the original control cage for editing and the smooth SDS object after all layers are applied inside. You can left click any of the spheres to edit the control cage at that level.

Click and drag the spheres to see the object with SDS applied at the highlighted level, though all levels still exist.

The number of spsheres shows the number of SDS levels applied.

The last highlighted sphere shows the display level.

The largest sphere shows the editable level.

Cheers Bobbins, I knew I had used this before but I was stumped, however I know the reason why...

I never use the interactive 3D mode in model (widgets, control cage etc.)and when it is off, these do not show up....my own fault really. Still, now I know...

Thanks again, you are a genuine asset to these forums...:)

Yeah, that one will get ya. At one time you could set it to do that with the little spheres, set your editing level, then turn off 3D(clunky) controls....It would stay that way after that. Unless you created another model or scene. I could be wrong, but it is worth checking out.

I've used this in model before but is there something similar in workspace?
