I finally got tS 7.51 installed today and have been setting things up the way I like them but there is one thing that I just can't get sorted and it's driving me potty! Hopefully someone has already worked this out and can point me in the right direction...
The grid is a visual guide and I use it all the time. However, in 7.51 I can't get it to match up with the objects. For example, I drop in a default cube, (size 1x1x1) at world 0, 0 and I get this:
7072
It's always been that two grid squares equals one primitive edge. That's logical and can be used for sensible visual feedback. But not now!
7073
This is the default settings, 40 and 40 (though 40 what I've no idea). I've tried all sorts of combinations in these boxes and can't get it right.
I must admit I find this set up truly bizarre and hope the programmers have just put a decimal point in the wrong place under the bonnet or something as it sure don't make much sense as it is.
Has anyone got it set up properly and can share the magic formula with me? Please? |

That does it, thank you.
I still can't believe that it's so bizarre and doesn't start with a sensible default. A definite oversight before it got let out the stable.
Thanks again nowhrebrain. |

Not a problem whatsoever. I did not work out the ratio completely it seems to be 1:1.33r |

I noticed this as well. Be interested to hear some explanation as to why this method was chosen rather using the workspace enviroments native measurement system. Perhaps it was just a case of this is what someone made so thats the way it stayed and no more thought given to it. It may not be a bug officially speakng but its downright clumsy. |

Who knows? I usually disable my grid at some point...either way, it should be addressed. |

Default grid patch is 1 unit square. This can be increased using the zoom parameter for the Ground in the stack settings. A zoom of 40 would mean the patch is 40 units square.
The TileCount should be exactly what you expect but this is where the problem is. It's not bad design, it's not an oversight - it's a fault. To see the other issue with it set TileCount 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13, 14 etc and Zoom of anything in solid mode. |
