Can anyone get Motion Blur to work in 7.51?
No matter what I do. it seems to not be working.
It appears to only keep rendering the same frame over and over as opposed to 6.6 which properly renders forward and backward to get the frames to blur together.
It appears to only work if there are keyframes in the 6.6 scene editor and doesn't work with the new animation editor at all.
Can anyone help me with this?

first.. you are talking about get motion blur in Model side rendering with Lightworks?? Because in workspace you cant render with lightworks and Vray doesnt support motion blur yet..
I dont have my personal pc here and i can't confirm your issue..
As a tip, you can download Virtualdub (its free) and you can add a motion blur post effect.. maybe that helps now if you are hurry to get motion blur.. :p |

I thought that was only for Vray?
I'm using Lightworks rendering out on the Modeler side after doing my animation in the workspace. Full bridge and even merging tracks to get individual keyframes so nothing is missed on the modeler side. It doesn't do anything unless there is information in the Modeler KF editor.
Or did you mean it didn't get built into the new Animation editor at all?
Thanks for the tip Prodigy, I'll have to try that.

Ed..
Go to /Video/Filters/Add/ Search on the list and you will find Motion Blur
Double click on it and press ok..
You can see the effect on the right hand window in real time..
Remember to save your anim with a codec to reduce the file size..
/Video/Compresion then save your work..
I know is not Real Motion blur, but in some cases works well.. :D
Hope that helps!

I usually use RevisionFX ReelSmart motion blur (www.revisionfx.com) to create motion blur in After Effects; it's much faster, and because it's non-destructive, you can go back and play w/ the settings to get your blur to look correct. There are some artifacts if you turn the motion blur too high, and while these can be worked around using another animation as a set of masks to show what pixels it should consider in motion, this does require the creation of another animation/image sequence to represent the motion. That, combined w/ an alpha channel (which unfortunately we still can't render when using VRay) used as a mask to apply the blurred animation w/ the original animation (or another set of layers so you can vary the amount of motion blur applied to specific objects), generates extremely realistic motion blur.
A lot of steps, but the control you get is worth it...and will be worth more once VRay can generate (and export!) alphas. |

Digital, have you tried using TGA format? Saving Vray images in TGA format seems to alpha mask out the background just fine for me...

I'm wondering whether you could also render the scene in lightworks mr and use it's alpha channel. Probably not what you want for animated scenes but it wouldn't be a big deal for stills. |

I've seen that plugin and would love to have it. Only problem is that I need After Effects :)
One easy and relitively fast workaround to prevent any camera issues or other mishaps when switching between rendering engines, and make it real easy to apply the mask on another layer in AE, is to paint all objects in the scene absolute (constant) white and the background absolute black. That way you have a perfect mask of the objects. No z-depth unfortunately, but I've used that method in the past.
