Thanks again Chester Desmond for your Clothmotion tutorial which got me going sir, and very pleasing to see Clothmotion running happily in 7.11 Modelspace. (CD's tutorial is in the 6.6 Tutorials nearby)

The fluttering flag doesn't self-collide when it flicks about even though I've set that in the CM panel. Is there something obvious I'm missing please? Short of making the material heavier (if that's even possible) which would iron out the silky feel

I'd now like to attach the flag to a rope (attached to the flagpole) which would also be driven by the wind. Getting ambitious :)

Is it possible to cloth-animate more than one object in one scene please?

So that I could then attach the rope to the top and bottom of the flagpole, attach the flag to the rope - and then both flag and rope would be blown around realistically

Please let me down gently if not. By balloon yes :)

Lots of problems under 7.11 though I should note, with 7.11 endlessly hanging up when attempting to delete the previous animation run

But wait- ClothMotion runs fine under 7.51 in Modelspace here, takes up a bit more memory but seems more stable. Which is very good news to this happy bunny anyway. More stable means more chance to examine the very interesting ClothMotion settings and it's good to be back on 7.51 too :)

No I haven't tried to delete a ClothMotion-created animation in 7.51 yet let's not get ahead of ourselves. Treat in store :)

Thanks Peter,

I was planning to get ClothMotion at some point and was wondering whether it would work well within TS7.51. Your report here that it does is the first I've seen here and I'm very glad to hear that it does.

I'd offer some assistance on it if I could but have never had it yet, one of many needs I have yet to rectify in relation to my trueSpace arsenal. ;)

Thanks,

Works on 7.51 under XP yes dude but endless crashing and TS disappearing, quite hard (but enjoyable) work

I thought I'd give it a go under 32bit Vista and it's a completely different story... I am very pleased to report. ClothMotion 1.22 is the version I'm using, registered for 15 quid

At 64 x 64 vertexes (quad divides) XP appeared to be in trouble. I can say that reasonably confidently because I'm running the same software on the same motherboard and graphics card - only the operating system changed and TS7.51 feels rock solid. TS along with everything else

If you're thinking of taking ClothMotion for a spin then you should know right away that you must begin a 'Create the mathematical database for all the vertexes' function - this is when you hit the Start button on the ClothMotion panel - when you hit that button you must first delete the animation in Scene Editor. I'm running the Vray animation in Modelspace.

There will be possibly thousands of sets of vertex XYZ information left in the Scene Editor from the last run and if they are left in there when hitting the CM Start button there will be a crash

To do this Freshen Up The Scene Editor function first Delete All Animation/One Object and wait a few moments when the scrubbers will appear: then Delete All Animation/Cascade. Any other way provokes a TS crash Vista or no Vista. Muchachos :)

This feature must have put people off CM over the years

Anyway :) I'm now looking at a scientific workstation testbed to explore material physics - tweaking CM physics parameters which are a bit mysterious - and it's great fun combining loves of physics, 3D animation, Pop Art and more :)

It's odd because I thought Modelspace couldn't do Vray renders let alone Vray animations...

One more thing Columbo :)

Please anyone- where is that Vray Animation button that I know is in there but can't find it...?

It's for Vray Workspace animations - TIA
