In fact i think that must be more intuitive... just click or double click is more than enough though  |

I've been trying to add an hdri image for ages and I just couldn't get it working....I mean, holding control when double-clicking to set it...seems a little strange to me...I did wonder how and was away to ask....
Ooooh...just added the kitchen HDRI file to my chess scene from the last SMC and it made an amazing difference - the render colours seem right and the reflections - it has, in my opinion, turned it into a thing of beauty.... |

are they expensive?
also, someone gave me a link to a package that creates HDRI images...v1 is free....not really looked at it because I couldn't figure it out in TrueSpace...until now.
anyway, it's called HDRShop...v2 is pretty pricey. |

Can someone check this or tell me if this is correct behaviour..when you use an HDR Image for the background caustics are not used...
Just noticed this when messing with VRay. |

deselect the 'env. lighting only' box. Don't know why though, that just seems to work. |

Just adding HDRI rocks like...
I have been playing with the VRAY settings for ages and the most recent is at the top....it just shows you the settings are really everything... |

Bleh, I don't have lightworks either..... I need one of those rendering plug-ins... I do have the rayPak, but I'm having trouble getting it to work... Does the rayPak have Lightworks (sorry I know I'm getting a little off topic...)?

If you render in TS (without Vray), you're already using Lightworks or Virtualight, they come with TS.

Oh, I thought they were plug-ins...?  Does TS automatically use it or do I have to use certain lights and textures?

Hehe that's a good one lightworks ;) I mean Truespaced!
The native rendering in TS has allways been this one and with the correct lightning, play with lights, you can do amazing things, and now with Hdri, well been for a while actually.
More power there then people things, to buissy learning new stuff I guess ;)

You can select the renderer from 'Preferences' under the 'File' drop-down. You should also see the selection for the other renderer, Virtualight. The way I get to HDRI is from Modelside, it's under the 'Lights' drop-down (or 'up') If you're so inclined, you can probably get to all of it through the LE, but I'm not 'there' yet :)
hope this helps,

Also, see the slightly 'hidden' documentation on Virtualight - it's in the TS folder - a subdir called 'Virtualight' look for it thru windows directory system (if you're on a PC, that is..)

tSed, Lightworks is the default Render engine... if you own ts7.51 you have lightworks with hdri support..
Go to model side, be sure you have the Lightworks render engine selected on settings panel, then go where you choose the lights and the top light it is HDRI.. Click on it, and you will see a pop up panel.. then you can add an image (jpg or hdri) and other values..

I like lightworks for the speed compared to vray...but vray results are just sooo beautiful when you get them right. I just don't like the 4 hours for the 1280x1024 render I did...makes a nice wallpaper though :)
I would love to see lightworks in workspace. That is the other thing I like about vray - the fact you can render in workspace... |
