Does any one know if True Space is going to move more of the function from the modeler to the work space side on the next release because I love the way the bones work in the Work space side but the modeler has more of what I work with and the old bones in the modal side still work like the old bone, why not integrate the work space and the modal window all the way, seems to me that would be the best. The new animation features are what I was waiting on and I do love them but when I do the animation in the Work Space side I can't use it in the model side but I can do animation in the modal side and it works in the Work space side. The big thing for me is I thought the Work Space and modal features where going to be more integrated in true space 7.5.

Model side is legacy. Once the tools are moved over it won't be needed anymore and removing model side and bridge will solve all the bridge related bugs as well as removing current limitations on what Workspace side can and can't do.

So there likley won't be any integration back to model side. ;)

I've never been a fan of the whole "bridge" approach and my opinion was that 7.0 should've been a stand alone application with 6.6 distributed along side it. But I doubt that would have been a marketable prospect because it admits that 7.x wasn't ready to stand on it's own.

My sights are set on 8.x and hopefully 64-bit. It'd be awesome if Caligari can get the bridge gone and make the jump to 64-bit by then. If they decide to do that and keep up the current pace that could well be sooner than we would think.

Of course the 3D market is getting really competitive right now, so they do need to move quickly to not get squeezed between the Big Boys (3ds Max and Maya) and the new apps like Silo.

Speaking of which - the last pt. upgrade seemed to be mostly about animation and bugs. I hope the next pt. will be about tools, (and bugs) that's what I'm really waiting for. It's getting to be time when we might hear something about what's coming next, don't you think?

Yup my thought too. I'm hoping we'll see a new Captain's Blog entry soon. :)

I bet a lot of effort is going toward the Siggraph Show coming up too.

I'm looking forward to the day when integration is complete and we can burn the bridge.

I was from Jersey - born there, now just a Pocono-ian. :) Anytime you want to go to the Brandywine, Steinie, let me know, I haven't been for years
