Hi,
most probably I missed something reading the manual, but how to resize an object in one direction (not from the center) like in Model side? |

Then I am going to add this to feature suggestions. Try to explain why I need directional resizing. Imagine that you modeled a number of objects not caring about the actual sizes and want to place them in one scene, let's say, on the floor. As the first step you need to place all of them onto one plane, then try to resize all of them to mach each other then put them down to the floor, scale again, put on the floor ... I think that one side of the object should keep its position in order not make many iteration in this simple procedure instead of just one. And the other suggestion is to have good measurement tool for precise tasks like architectural modelling or engineering. |

in silo I do it with face selections+soft selection, should be possible in trueSpace too. Finally snapping the faces to the goal object and voila. Unfortunatly truespace has no component snapping (snapping verts, lines, faces to other objects) yet. |

Ahah, I had an idea: Have you tried moving the axis to the edge you don't want to move and then scaling?

Thanks Jack and Parva, In Model side I do it just dragging one side of the object. One movement. Maybe snapping works, but if I want to rank objects to one level, not to object? Of course it can be done by axis movement, but again it needs more time (not easy to place axis exactly to the right position). I mean that WS "improved" object widget lost one useful feature. The "best" is the enemy of the "good".:( |

Maybe it would be useful if someone implemented a custom widget that has the same behavior as the old widget?
Personally I like the new widget better and I always found the old widget frustrating, but I think a lot of the old time users would probably appreciate having the old widget as an option.

Oh no I thought this one-way resizing was something I would find out about later. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in
