Start this 3dfrog's thread again because not sure that solution from Bobbins is right. Let's me remind:
3dfrog - Is there anyway to see the scene in the dimensions it will be rendered in the workspace?
Bobbins - Left click the icon at the top left of the Workspace window - you'll get a pull down menu where you can set the window size. You can then set the window size to be the same as the render size (assuming your screen has a high enough resolution, otherwise you can set a window size with the same aspect ratio as the render size).
It does not matter how wide are windows in my house, the cat looks the same from all of them :D . Dimensions of the perspective view window do not affect object's proportions. Wider window allows wider view. But render window change proportions respectively to it's dimensions. Two different approaches to the problem "What we see through the window?" As an example look at the screenshot. Both windows are 1064x296. So is there anyway to see the scene in the dimensions it will be rendered in the workspace? |

did you press apply after setting the window?
the widows are like rubber now..I personally would rather have the same window do the render..after setting the render window to half the workwindow size, the image is not the same at all. its a different perspective altogeather.yes you can also you can squish the perspective..
I imagine the resulting render is only guaged by the settings in vray- view ..the best way is to open the render window and not size it so you can see the real output on screen:) |

the best way is to open the render window and not size it so you can see the real output on screen:) What to do with HDTV and other image standards that differ in sizes with WS standard? I have a widescreen TV set and am used to stretched bodies. And I also think that the fashion for thinning appeared together with widescreen TVs.:D We can do the same - press all objects horizontaly prior to rendering and stretch the rendered image afterwards. I presume it's the only way to keep correct proportions.:p |

Changa - what dimensions were requested for the render? Or did you just render the window and not render to file? |

Bobbins, as usual I started to blame someone else instead of my personal stupidity:( . Rendering to file works perfect. May be one thing should be improved. Not clear what "work area dimensions" mean in render window settings menu, what happens if it checked/unchecked and how this parameter connected to "Vray view dimensions" in Vray settings menu? I mean that both (different) settings represent rendering window size at least while render to screen. |

Unless I'm misunderstaning, the bug here is that the VRay window shouldn't stretch the image like that. That's a known bug for VRay 1.51.

I am agree Jack. The bug is. But good is, that it happens if opened render window was resized from it's own property menu or with mouse only. I hope. If size redefined from Vray settings menu, but this window still opened if has no affect and rendering is still stretched. But if render window was closed, new rendering goes OK and the window takes sizes from vray settings. Another thing surprised me. Content of the render window can be moved by mouse inside the window. What does it mean? |

Being able to pan the render is so that you can zoom in on areas and pan it around to see if you're happy with how the render came out.

Vray isn't stretching my images here. If I set the window to 800 x 600 and the vray render to 800 x 600 they come out exactly the same. I don't understand why you guys are getting stretching. |

VRay itself doesn't stretch the images and the render is fine. What is screwy is if you resize the VRay output window it scales the image to the window borders.
