Can VRay 1.51 do volumetrics, fog effects? I cannot seem to get it to work for me.

Those are Lightworks render effects and are not supported in Vray...at the moment anyway...:o

"Vray Volumetrics".....

http://bestsmileys.com/thinking/1.gif
You guys are probably going to think I'm crazy saying this (assuming you don't already think that;) ) but I was thinking that it may be possible to create pseudo-volumetrics for Vray renders by enclosing an entire scene (camera, lights, and all) entirely within a semi-transparent textured cube.... kind of like taking an underwater photograph.

Food for thought?

I made this image by compositing a multi-pass LW post-process render layer over a vray image. Basically I rendered the same scene in LW but I made the orb black (and turned off shadows for the orb) and rendered out to diffuse and post-process feature layers (I turned the others off).

Then I took the post-process layer from the LW image and put it over the vray render in gimp. The final image is on top, the original vray image is below. I have no idea if this will work for all vray renders as this is the only scene I've tried it with.

Great workaround Transient!

Personally, I'm hoping for volumetric shaders. A box around the scene unfortunately doesn't give much in the way of distance based light scattering and opacity. I'd like to see volumetric shaders in addition to "open air" effects. Probably a huge render time killer though.
