Are there any dual monitor users out there with their Primary monitor on the right?

I'm using Vista and two different monitors. When my primary monitor is on the left TS works fine. I can move it across monitors - all is well.

But my primary monitor is on the right and if I try to move TS to the left monitor it jumps back to the right. Unfortunately, this is my small monitor...

If anyone has or could try TS with the primary display on the right and let me know I'd really appreciate it.

I was amazed to discover from tech support that I am actually the one and ONLY person to have any display issues with TS 7.5 - truly amazing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rich.

Hi there - yep I have dual monitors with the primary one on the right.

Both my monitors are the same size however. I've set up one window - the main tS screen with the stack view - so it stretches from the main monitor to the secondary. I do most of my modeling and scene set-up on the secondary monitor and have image browsers, LE windows scene editor and what ever else in the main monitor (on the right). This works pretty well for me and I've tailored my workflow to use this layout.

Note that I often utilize the title bar double click feature to maximise auxilary windows.

Here's my dualscreen layout file. Stick it in your Rs library 'Layouts-configurations folder and you should be able to try it out and modify it as you see fit.

Hope this helps.

Thanks W!ZARD,

I am able to stretch the window across the two monitors. (Although, I do get some odd artifacts in Model mode.)

I usually use my right monitor for "control" and program switching, etc. I was hoping you could try one test for me, just to isolate the nature of my problem.

Could you drag the right edge of TS over onto the left monitor, so it all sits on the right monitor and see what happens?

I think the problem is due to a bug in a common routine used to recover windows that restore completely off screen. When this happens these programs reposition themselves on screen. I suspect that this routine in TS is mistakenly assuming that the primary is on the left and so when the entire window is left of that, it thinks that the window is not visible and it then relocates it.

Anyway, if you could test that for me it would help isolate whether this is a quirk of my system or a TS issue.

Thanks again.

Rich.

Sorry Rich - been away from the forums for a few days. I don't need to try your experiment though to know what happens - very bad stuff happens! The window flickers madly or simply freezes up. Some auxillary windows will open happily on the secondary monitor and some simply jump back to the main monitor which is why my setup is sort of a workaround - I've just got used to it now and have designed my workflows accordingly.

Hope this helps

Thanks W!ZARD,

Since TS is the only program to act funky on my system, I did think it was them not me, but as I mentioned in my original post, the official party line is that I'm the only one with any display issues. (I was also told that nothing would be done about it.)

It's good to know one isn't crazy yet!

Thanks,

Rich.

You're welcome Rich but I don't know if it's a good idea to use me as a measure of sanity!!:D
