This is a question for anyone working with animations but I know Thomas can help with this one.

When key framing either with the "VCR" controls or with the scene editor it seems that the default point is a "smooth transition" as in:
8058

I want to know if there's a way to make the abrupt or angular transition the default. as in:
8059

Click the "Path" icon (next to the Scene Editor Icon on the flyout with the 'look at' tools) and the path toolbar opens.

"Draw new path point" should be active - click it to make it active if it isn't.

On the path toolbar select "Path:sharp corner" - smooth corner is the default.

When you create new keyframes they will now have sharp keys as long as you are animating the path rather than the object.

Coincidentally Paul I was looking at some Caligari wmv's yesterday, part of a Learning Pack I think. Those transitions that you're interested in when programmed from Workspace caught my eye right away and can be linear or spline-based and a couple of other types, the 7.5 animation desk looks very impressive

Thank you Bobbins!

That was the answer I needed. I knew it could be done. I have in the past had it work that way, I just never knew how I did it.

Going back and editing 2000 keyframe properties is a real pain!

weaverbm: at the moment I'm like the kid at Christmas staring through the shop window at the shiny new bicycle. I want 7.5 so bad I can taste it, but I just can't swing it for now! Seems like more and more people are submitting animations from 7.5 so they must have made some major improvements!

In the mean time I feel left out when 7.x users start talking about bridges and such. I have no idea what they're talking about!!!!

Thanks for the help
Paul

On the path toolbar you can change properties for all points on a path to sharp keys (or back to smooth), so if you ever did have a complex animation and wanted to change the parameters for all points at once, you can.

Click the Path icon to show the path and open the path toolbar.

On the toolbar find the icon for "Change parameters for all points"

Select the "Path:sharp corner" icon.

It's the shiniest of bicycles Paul :)

talking about bridges

Yes it's a nightmare trying to work out what these new things are without hands-on

The bridge is an active link between Modelside (6.6) and the new Workspace. It synchronises everything between the two so that legacy TrueSpace versions can communicate with TrueSpace's new engine. The idea being to smooth the transition to the powerful new TS version while also acting as a plugin for TS7 for functions that aren't yet implemented in TS7

The LE is a link editor, a visual object-oriented programming area within TS7 that handles all the elements of the scene and which allows fairly low-level programming of functions. The programmable elements within the Workspace are called 'scripting', given the studio nature of the TS application- scenes and animation and so on

Those two were the big puzzles for me :)
