Hi,

Suddenly, for no apparent reason, some objects in my scenes seem to be losing their textures.

The texture files have not been moved, renamed or altered in any way at all.

Scenes that looked ok before, now don't display textures properly.

If I load the individual object scenes, render them to screen, then reload the bigger scenes, the textures will display ok. But then after I close trueSpace down and load it again, the problems are back.

This has happened before when applying textures - I had to apply them from the truespace66/Textures folder instead of their original folder for them to stick, BUT, at that time, the textures wouldn't apply from the word go. This time, everything was fine until tonight. :(

This is just really annoying, and I don't see any reason for this to just suddenly happen out of the blue for no reason. Of course, there must be a reason, so does anyone have any idea what that reason could be?

I'm using trueSpace 6.6

Thanks.

Are the textures larger than 4000 pixels?
tS has trouble with larger textures than this.
If not, have you tried the old 'Delete the truespace.cfg file trick?'

None of the textures are 4000 or larger - I think the biggest one is about 3000.

The texture information on the objects is still there - if I use the "inspect" thing on the material editor, the texture info comes up as it should, and then if I render that object individually, it renders ok. But the scene as a whole will just not show up certain textures.

It seems to only have a problem with a certain 4 textures, and sometimes it will show some of them, other times not. But there was never a problem previously with this scene, and no problems with these textures in other scenes.

So, it makes no sense.

I uninstalled and reinstalled tS so that would have deleted the file you mention wouldn't it? It had no effect.

Replied in other thread before seeing this one - sounds like a memory issue. "Sometimes render and sometimes don't" sounds like it depends how much memory is still spare at the time of running the render (eg depending on other applications running, clipboards, undo history, etc).

See other thread response for more detail :)

HTH!
