:) Nah I don't mean texture drool, I mean like pouring out of the mouth and collecting on the ground green slime goober stuff....
Can't wait to see where you're going with the final composition. :D
Edit: @ James, that sounds pretty fun! :D |

Well if you haven't done the final render yet, I would sure like to see this guy with some dark dramatic lighting in a ferocious pose doing his thing....scaring the pants off of people. :) Maybe a shot looking slightly up at him to exaggerate his menacing size. |

LOL Madmouse and Steinie! :D
I agree with Dele. He needs dramatic lighting and camera angle to add emotional impact. Modeling and texturing is top notch, just need to match that with superior scene composition to put it over the top.
Edit:.... hmm.... maybe a scar going through one of the eyes and a milky pupil would make him less "cute" looking? |

LOLZ, me too!
But I'm afraid I freaked out my 20-year-old student assistant, he just glanced at my monitor ... and "Oh my god, I can't look"... and scooted out of my cubicle... totally cracked me up, but through splutters of laughter, I did my best to reassure him that it really wasn't as bad as he thought.. :p when he saw all the other funny poses he started laughing (whew!)
Librarians are generally not prudish (after all ... ALL kinds of books come across our desks) but I hadn't realized we were less so than the 20-year-olds who spend a few hours a week working with us. I guess I'm going to have to start being a little more proper and grandmotherly ... drat :D
just can't get away with anything any more
**so, I opted for the drooly spittle head .. *and oh my .. stretched out to full monitor size he's paralyzingly scary.. I can 't possibly work with that staring at me.. so.. now he's just glaring menacingly through a little rectangular window in my desktop....
---
sorry.. sloppy cut-and-paste had made that last bit incomprehensible. :o

Cool looking and beautiful textures as usual, but... it looks to be made out of all the same material and won't provide much contrast with the troll. I wonder if making it different materials would make it look more dynamic. Say a leather wrapped wood handle, the spikes iron, and the head out of stone... |

Got to agree with Jack there...it looks like the sort of accessory you get with such a toy figure i.e. all made from plastic, although yours does not look like plastic...err, you know what I mean... |

Say a leather wrapped wood handle, the spikes iron, and the head out of stone... Yep. Your both right. I was trying to keep to the original look which is all one material but I think your idea is much better.
I'll be back....................... |

AWESOME!!!! And fast too!!! :D
This is way better!
The rivets on the top leather strap could use with a bit of bump/normal map to make them stand out more and a bit of specular to make them shinier than the leather, but other than that this is pro level work. Very impressive!

I felt that the last textures were a bit rushed and too clean and shiny looking so today I've reworked them a little making them older and more 'grungy'.
I'm much happier with this one.:) |

Thats excellent madmouse, but the spikes on the bottom of the handle would realy hurt your ogre if it slipped a bit in his hand, mind you when has hurting ogres been such a bad thing.... |

LOL - "Morecambe and Wise"! "Fancy a cuppa tea Earn?"
That's a smashing hammer mate (but don't lend it to steinie, he still hasn't returned my hedge clippers! ;):D).
Gobsmacking texture work again my friend.
Love the poses - the expression is a little... neutral? but the poses sure add that ...er... human touch I was banging on about.
PS: It occurs to me that someone should complain to Norm about internet trolls on the forums!!!! :D |

Nothing very exciting...just a shield for 'Fat Boy'...but at least its one more thing completed.
There are no straps to hold the shield to 'Fat Boys' arm at the moment. These will be added once the final pose is decided on.
C & C please
ATB
Steve
p.s. LOTR fans may get a clue from this render as to my idea for the final image. (hint hint) :D |

Beautiful texturing!
The only coment could be that this shield has not seen much action lately according to its rust. This could mean that no one even gets near this guy :D but I am not sure you want to give that impression. |

You spend far too much time on these things Steve and even then the texturing is rubbish...when can we see more toilets?
