On the positive side with 3Delight only using 2 cores you could fire up another copy of TS and keep on working without any slowdown. ;)
Also if Simon adds an option to create stand-alone render batches, you could fire off a render job and let 3Delight render in the background while you continue to work, so it's not all bad. :D |

I'm unsure what newer version of 3Delight you have, the publically available version is still 6.5.0?
So far there hasn't been a verifiable problem with the GI as long as the required settings were in place - raytracing enabled, materials with some luminance/ambient, at least one "real" light (e.g. spotlight) if you want caustics - but I'll continue to investigate. I'll also be making some examples available once I'm done with the first update.
One thing though: "dribble-specific shaders" is (at this stage) contrary to the stated goal of keeping things as simple as possible and without requiring every object to be re-surfaced. Some custom shaders ARE coming for special features such as SSS and fur, but I really want to keep custom shaders as few as possible for the basic version of dribble.
6.5.0 is the version I have, I must have misread the dribble documentation as I thought it said version 5.1.2.
As for settings I had everything set except I didn't have any luminance in the shaders I was using - oops.
Could you post a list of which lights are classed as real lights and will give caustic effects.
I look forward to the special shaders but I can see how you would like to limit this.
One more question - will any of the TSshaders exhibit fresnel reflectance effects and if so which ones? |

Saul, you may have seen that I just posted about the luminance thing no longer necessary once I release the first update. I think I'm also going to change how photon mapping is done so I'll hold off on talking about compatible lights until I've completed that.
Re: licensing, all I know is that the 3Delight guys have said they're changing licenses. |

Mmmm, I have 3delight on my laptop now but I don't have dribble at hand. I bought it so if anyone can PM me a direct link to a download...it's all very legal...:D |

I hope nobody did because the downloads are linked to each customer and you only have a limited number of downloads before manual intervention is needed :)
Let me know if you still need the link and I'll have the system send it out to you again. |

Yes, a kind person (who will remain un-named) did...:o
Sorted now, I just wanted to mess with SSS during a (rare) free teaching period.
Do download limits get reset with each new release? Otherwise none of us can get Dribble 1.6...:D |
