Okay, working on a lovely little image (can't post it though...:mad:) and I am having weird things happen.
Firstly can someone, preferably a dev, explain what happens to a nurb based object in model side when rendered using Vray? Sometimes it looks exactly like it should while at other times it becomes jagged.
Secondly, I applied SSS to that nurb based object, which happens to be a curtain, to get a nice translucent effect. I rendered then tweaked the material very slightly, repainted and now it renders black-can't seem to get the translucent effect back.
Any explanation why this is happening? I get the material or light just right and then poof! I lose it for no apparent reason...:( |

Damn, damn, damn...why is it doing this? I have an object it looks great, I copy it and it's black. Tried converting to a poly first...copied....still black.
Not sure if it is SSS, Vray, Nurb, bridge...or all of 'em!
And I can't even post a grab to explain.....:mad::mad::mad:
It's late....:( |

Splinters, the black thing is a material problem. You can fix it by going into the LE, dive into the object with the problem. Delete it's material node and then re-apply the material.
My advice is to convert the Nurbs to poly. VRay doesn't support nurbs and converts it to poly anyway. Better to control that conversion yourself by doing it before hand. ;)

Tried that Jack...same problem but only seems to happen if I apply a SSS shader to it...:confused: |

After you delete the material node, have you tried setting the material from WS side? I found that helped. I think the materials seem more likely to disappear if they are set model side...oddly enough...:o |

Maybe it's the Magical Oreo Cookie Shader (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=3027) at work!
To save you a bit of reading, have the Lum and Diffuse settings zeroed themselves out? |
