This is the next thing I've been working on ... The Mini Mate Bruce Lee figure I have on my desk.

No texturing yet ... hair still needs to be done (I had it close and then TS crashed!).

I've been wanting to do some toys for a while now. There are some really cool styles out there. Especially the Clone Wars Animated series Star Wars stuff. I also have a Shaggy (Scooby Doo) figure that might be cool to do.

I think I may animate him ... we'll see. Anyone have a link to the JointMaster Plugin that was around a while ago???

HAHAHA ... that would be funny. we should take a poll as to how many 3d modellers have ever modelled a Lego figure. I bet the numbers would be pretty high.

I love Lego figures, but these Mini-Mates are too cool. They are a great size and are really posable. There's a whole range of new ones out of comic book characters. I wish I had the Rob Zombie one.

thats really cool. You'll have to pose him in the classic 'enter the dragon' nun-chucks pose!

Oh yeah ... I plan on modelling nun chucks and the staff ... the figure actually comes with nun-chucks ... tho they are not shown in the pic.

Excellent, I like this and I'm looking forward to seeing what you do wih this.

Just needs some blur, desaturating, a bit of dust and speckle and that dodgy 70's film effect to complete the illusion.

haha - nice! I didnt think about adding some noise to it to get that look. The wide screen render actually happened by accident and I just kept it.

Chuck Norris .... I'll have to get some reference pics and do that. Re-create the Lee vs. Norris fight scene.

The cool thing is that to change up characters now is pretty easy to do ... maybe some hair changes and color changes/texture stuff.

let me ask you guys too ....

I have always done animations with characters with a skeleton setup.

But with these models, I jsut have them set up with groups with their axis set where the rotational points should be.

I can see the advantage of a skeleton. But I won't want any deformation of the different elements of a leg or an arm. Is that possible??

Are you in 7.5? I believe you can rig it as attach object to bone. So each segment will attach to a seperate bone and you wont have any odd deformations. If you use IK handles I recommend not putting more than one handle per joint or bone. There is currently a bone stretching problem which happens with this. They are working on that though.

nope - I'm in 6.5 .... I'll try it and see. I've just always setup skeletons in a body that I wanted to deform ... I'l give it a try.

i used to do this in 4.3 with robots. that had seperate "hinges" i think insted of joints.

i think you can still do it if you attach each object to a bone not attach skin to bone

OK - I just learned that you can attach seperate objects to a bone. It worked well ... I just got done setting up all the constraints and such.

I LOVE JOINT MOTION for stuff like this. So much easier.

I'll be working on a Chuck character soon.. :)
