Ok on my video card I am doing it has the name of the company on it. Well I have some text on there but it is not the correct font Gigabyte used. What I want to do is grab their text off their web site or somewhere else then convert that text to vector so I can then use it in TS by sweeping it. I need it 3d. |

Ok, that shouldn't be too hard. Where exactly are you getting hung up?
I know that Macromedia Freehand has a feature where it will actually convert bitmap images to vector. It actually works pretty good with images that have good contrast and simple color patterns. I don't think Illustrator has anything equivalent to that though. At least not to my knowledge.
You should be able to trace the text with the pen tool in Illustrator though. Then you can group the text together and export it. It's been a while since I've imported vector graphics into trueSpace so I don't recall what was the best format. I think it worked saved as an Illustrator 8 file, but I'm not sure. Anyway, then you can import it into tS and extrude it. |

Well I would save it as a .dxf. Now I am using CS2 and it has the live trace feature which is what I think you are referring to. I will have to try to live trace it and see what happens. |

Another way to get to a vector output is to use the Open Source version of Illustrator called InkScape - http://www.inkscape.org This has a bitmap to vector autotrace feature built in, and it's free. |

I use Xara Xtreme for my vector editing program and found a similar font which appears to be what GIGABYTE uses on their Website currently. I'm unsure if this is the same on your video card project. Candara is the name of the font. |

Hi rjeff,
The following thread here may help, you'll find an example image there which shows you how I managed to do it (thanks to Jack Edwards' advice) inside trueSpace without Illustrator, which I also have.

Much better using TS directly I think.
Good luck,
