Quick queston on adding edges. I have a cylinder that the the top face has been beveled twice creating three faces on top. The second face was sweep down. On the center face I added a couple of edges with no trouble, however I can't seem to add edges across the top of the outer ring (circled in red). Anyone know why I can't seem to add edges across the top of the outer ring?

It's a bug in the add edges tool. Some times it just won't add the edge. I think it has something to with if there is a 90 degree or so change in the model geometry.

The work around is to delete the face and to highlight the opposite edges in pairs and use the form face tool to add in the new faces one by one. This will give you your edges. If you need to divide an edge then you can use the add point tool to cut the edges on each side and then use the form face tool to create the two new faces.

That's a rather tedious solution for the shape you have in the image. Better would be to right click on the bevel icon and check the check box for "Quad mode". Then you'll maintain quads when using the bevel tool. ;)

you can use the poldraw tool to add an edge as well. That has worked for me when I can't use add edge.

Thanks Jack. Turning on the quad option did the trick. Sometimes I forget to to check the stack for the tool options.

Thanks guys. Tried both your suggestions. The outer ring was beveled with quad option on and I added four faces using the polydraw tool on one of the inner rings.

This lead me to another question/thought though :). When using the polydraw tool to add the faces on the inner ring am I creating duplicate vertices and if so is there a way to delete duplicate vertices?

TS does a pretty good job of snapping to vertices, so hopefully you aren't creating double verts. You can fix it if you do, by choosing, rectangle select, "Select from all", and vertex, then drag selecting over where you think the two vertices are, then click the weld tool.
