Hi,
I have a B&W silhouette picture of a horse that I would like to bring in to truespace3 and extrude it to a 1/8 inch thick object that I can use as a 3d object. How can I do this?
Thanks,
Paul |

You can use a program like Inkscape (free) make your drawing and then import as an EPS file.
or if you have a program such as Adobe Illustrator or a Vector program that can save AI files, do your drawing in there, then import as an AI file.
Once you get it into tS, sweep the top face and rotate 90 degrees in the X axis. |

OK – I’m new to Camtasia. I’ve never made a video tutorial before.
Hope this helps though.
Hope you have at least TS 7.5
In Workspace, make a plane of the size and shape you want.
Right-click on the plane to edit it.
If you get a dialogue box, just accept it.
Click on quad-divide a few times to make lots of little squares.
Just to make sure, I always give it a Planer UV map…
Click the Displacement Mapping Icon.
Then in the Panels section at the left of the screen:
Hold down your [CTRL] button and double-click on the Height map square
Choose your height map
Adjust it until it looks good to you
Done
The video is a bit blurred, but you should be able to tell what I'm doing.
In the video, I click the select icon instead of just right-clicking in a free space so you can tell when to un-select something. |

I only have Truespace3. But it works for what I use it for. I basically use it to visualize small craft projects before I start building them.
Right know I'm working on a carrousel. And I would like to have a 3d object of the horses that I am going to use.
They're about 4" X 4.25" X 1/8" |

Ok I can't remember back to ts3, but you could map your horse image to a plane, then use the draw tool to out line it and get the shape you want then extrude the 2d poly to a 3d shape. |

I only have ts3. But thanks anyway for going thru the trouble of making the video. It was pretty cool. Your truespace looks pretty cool! |

I ended up just sticking the horse to the front of the display and then making a polygon around it. Then I swept it. Then resized it. Worked great! Thanks for the help. |
