I downloaded the TrueSpace intro to scripting and when ever I try to open it it says that, ("The Camtasia Studio video content presented here requires JavaScript to be enabled and the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player. If you are you using a browser with JavaScript disabled please enable it now. Otherwise, please update your version of the free Flash Player by downloading here.") Please tell me how to fix this problem; I've tried everything I could think.

I'm no expert but did you check these settings yet?

FireFox and Explorer shown.

I have all of those checked but it's still telling me the same thing. Is there anything else I can do?

Which Browser are you using? You never stated.

If you are using FireFox go into the "Advanced" settings on the "Enable Java" screen and check your settings make sure their enabled.

What version Java are you running?

If this doesn't help you I would suggest calling Caligari Customer Service next.

Are you using Vista? I have had some problems with Flash applications and installation under Vista. Basically it would say it was installed, but whenever I tried to view any page that used Flash, it would tell me it was not installed and give me the link to install it.

No i'm not using vista. I would take a picture of it but I dont know how to do that. However this is exactly what it says, "The Camtasia Studio video content presented here requires JavaScript to be enabled and the latest version of the Macromedia Flash Player. If you are you using a browser with JavaScript disabled please enable it now. Otherwise, please update your version of the free Flash Player by downloading here." Has anyone else ever experienced this before?

Yes, sounds like javascript is disabled, if you have tried downloading and installing Flash from the provided link. Let us know if the link from Dirk helps solve the issue!

I followed the directions from Dirk and when I went to see if scripting was enabled I saw that it already was. However when I click on "IntrotoScripting01.html" it still says the same exact thing. This problem is really frustrating because I really want to learn how to script. Nevertheless I want to thank everyone for giving up some of their time to try and help me. However I still do do help.

Does the same problem occur under another browser, you could try Firefox and see if that also reports an issue or if it gets you started with being able to view the videos while getting this one resolved.

BTW which version of IE and which version of Windows are you using? And do you have any anti-spam or anti-virus software running? My main two thoughts at present are that some installation is out of date, or that some security device is preventing this from running (ad blocker, pop up blocker, anti-virus or similar, that may be preventing scripts from running even if IE has them enabled).

Thanks!

Tom

Ok here's a place where you can test if javascript is actually enabled -- http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/tryit.asp?filename=tryjsref_onmousedown

Next is flash working properly (lots of sites notably youtube)

Ok assuming that everything works then this might be a camtasia specific issue.

You could go to the camtasia site

http://www.techsmith.com/

Or you could see if someone else had the same problem and if they found a solution

http://www.google.com/search?q=Camtasia-Studio-video-content

(people often post the complete text of an error message)

(the dashes tell google to look for the words together)

One other thing you might try is downloading firefox, (its free)

You might try googling the various file types in the download (Im assuming htm, swf, flv)

to see if there is an alternate viewer
