Ok I am not trying to compete with Prodigy..that would be well futile..howerver he did inspire me to make one of my own. I like castle subjects so I though I would. Now this is very early on. This is the gate section of the castle |

yeah I am putting alot of detail in the gate itself. So the process will be a bit slow. I am re working the "rollers" on the shaft becuase I realized that if the gate has slack the chains would fall off. |

It is getting along very nicely. I was wondering about the position of the chains. If this is to be an old castle, these gates are supposed to keep people out and should be able to close rapidly when these bastards from the other castle suddenly appear. So is this the outside or the inside? It looks like the outside with the doors swinging out, but that would make the chains very vulnerable (these bastards stop at nothing). If it is the inside you need some sort of stronghold to keep the doors from being pushed in (or have the doors fall within the wall, but then the doors would have to swing out). I hope I make myself clear, just worried about your safety, that's all.

The doors do indeed swing in. infact your view is from the inside. The guard towers have the winches..not the "female" kind. Of course they have been known to go in there and see the guards..we have had all kinds of hangings because of a lapse in guard duty at other castles.. The door will have a bar that will run across it to keep the "bastards" out as you say!. I am also thinking of a iron gate on the front as well. I have not made that one yet. |

Ok here is an updated gate. I added some small details. One is a lock bar for Georg so he can feel safe in the castle with no walls. I also added the entrance for the chains into the guard tower. |

texturing..scares the heck out of me. What I need and want are what is going to be very hard for me to do. Anybody here played DOOM3? Well if you have then you know the last level..you are in hell and what looks likea old castle type structre. If you have noitced the walls they are large blocks, howerver they are not geometry. They are textures that look like they have alot of depth. Gears of War is the same way. Most of the detail in that game is textures. I need to learn that type of depth. I am not even sure if TS can do that or not. Oh and thanks for all the kind words. |

This is really cool. Yes you can make textures look like they are geometry like bricks with depth and stuff with displacement mapping. I don't know what your plans are but this would look real cool as a realtime scene if you put cool bump mapped textures and cool lighting. |

If you have doom 3 for the PC just copy the textures and add a tinyyyyyyyyyyyyy little black dot somewhere then you ddint copy them exactally lol and just use them that way |
