A quick and simple project. I was looking at this to add to a game I play a lot. I've never really done mapped textures, just truespace's built in projections, so painting this up was an interesting new experience. I did have somebody else do the actual mapping part, since that's arcane voodoo still. Get there eventually.

Anyway, 180 triangles, with a 512x512 texture (probably that'll get halved for the game)

Modelled after an image I found while randomly googling: http://www.gggodwin.com/boardingaxe.jpg

Nicely modeled and textured. Any gamer would be proud to tote one of those around. :)

The axe isnt displaying now. I saw it yesterday though and it's very nice indeed. What uv mapping program does your friend use? I suck at uv mapping.

Ah, sorry, took it down in the interests of saving space. Here's a more recent version with specularity and bump maps

As far as I know, she used 3DSmax to do the UVvoodoo. I was showing the model just as a "isn't this cool?" (it's a beautiful axe, imho; the shape of it) moment, and dreading the UV part, when completely out of the blue I got an offer to map it for me. How can you say no to that? :)

I think it looks great Momaw. :)

Something as simple as this could be mapped in TS no probs. But you may want to look into Ultimate Unwrap 3d:

For organic stuff and pro work, many of us are buying:
