Thought I'd post the different sets for the animation short I'm working on here since the animation is a WIP!

The City Block set is for the short, Magilla Gum-Shoe isn't. He was more an exercise in stress relief. I needed a chuckle. You should see him reciting one of Jack Webb's narratives from "Dragnet". A much needed belly laugh.

Maybe I'll write a story for him!

This is beautiful work 3dpdk! Much better than anything I've produced to date. I'm looking forward to seeing this animated. :jumpy:

Very cool scene. Are you saying that character isn't for that scene? Shame!

Two things struck me as a little odd. The lowest storey of the building in the background seems very bare - may be that I just can't make out the detail due to the shadows, but can only see a single central opening, which is a little unusual. Would normally have at least boarded up windows?

Secondly, there's obviously a moderately strong light source off to the right (an approaching car?) but your character only appears to be casting a shadow from the streetlight - whilst the lampost itself is casting a shadow from the offscreen light? It may just be heights/angles of shadows etc, just looked a little peculiar.

Really like the mood of the scene though, some great detailing.

Thanks!

Na, the gorilla might get his own animation later; tung in cheek, Mickey Spillane sort of thing, but for now this set has another intended use - something a bit more mundane I'm afraid.

The building in the background is actually the back side of the building with the shops in the foreground. The alcove is the stairwell leading up to the apartments above but I guess it wouldn't hurt to add a few shop back doors on the first floor for more detail. I think I intended to do that, just never got around to it.

Yes there is a spot light set to represent headlights. I placed it down the street (stage right) at the height of a head light and narrowed the cone to approximate the same field of light as a headlight. I could get a better shadow if I point the head light down just a bit. The shadow from the lamp post is from the street lamp (not modeled yet, I knew I should have done that before I submitted this!!!) above the character's head. I debated whether there would be ground shadows from the headlight. I'll try it and see how it looks.

Thanks Jack. This is probably the most ambitious project I've attempted in trueSpace so far and I want it to be really polished. It may take a while before I get to the final edit but I'll keep posting my progress.
