Hi Prodigy. I will definitely be entering a model of some description but won't get a chance to start on it till the weekend. Great topic by the way. |

Seems silly to have it be Tuesday already and no entries, so I have taken the time to make one for you. :D
And I even made the gravy all bubbly for ya!! |

Nice one Kena, I didn't see that coming, although perhaps I should have with some of the comedians round here....
Great job on the metal shader too... |

Important UPDATE!
I extend the time limit for this SMC to 4 Hours. ;)
(from challenge thread) - thought it was worth re-iterating here....
Great news! I was worried I wouldn't get my USS Constitution done in time...:D
Let me guess - a paper boat...;) Oh, you said USS Constitution, I missed that second S.... |

I hope this challenge isn't just for a certain group... I tossed on in. Im not the best modeler but like to play with it.
(for time sake I didn't take the time to clip the bottoms of the bubbles :) )

no, this challenge is for EVERYONE who uses TS. So is the Monthly Modeling Challenge. working on them tends to improve your ability to use the program enormously, which is why I started entering myself.
With all the new people, I hope we get more entrants. |

Wow, you said you aren't the best modeler and you're using TS 3.2 and you made that?? That's pretty amazing to me :)
So far, you have my vote (I'm not going to vote for my own)

Cheers Prodigy :)
I was going to stick my old MMC shark in the background somewhere as decoration, but couldn't face seeing that cheesy grin again - and besides, he had more polys than the entire submarine...:D
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with - I'm hoping to have time to try something more like a cargo ship or exploartion vessel or some such... that'll allow me to make better use of your generous time extension... |

Aw Nez, you just beat me - entering a sub into the SMC competition that is. That said, mine looks totally naff against your excellent entry. Back to the drawing board me thinks. |

Everyone's models are great.
I think this will be my last for this one (I had thought of making it a sail boat but didn't think I would have time). It didn't turn out as I hoped... I kept looking at the clock trying to calc up the time from all the restarts I did.
Two things I would have liked to been able to do (besides make the boat model better).
1) Add a hard slanting rain.... I thought of animating particles and using motion blur (don't know if that would work).
2) two words "White Caps".... I cant think of how to do it unless it is some type of transparent TGA. As it is it looks more like a bad trip in a bathtub.
Great models everyone.

I was going to do one, probably still will since I am an ex submariner. Yes subs are called boats even if they are much larger then ships :D. |

Thanks Prodigy for the extended time, I might get one in after all. A little over 3 hours on sub, just add some oraments now and off to texturing and scene. When I get more time that is :). |

guys (and Kena) ... got a technical question for you...
Started modeling my entry last night but tried to experiment with 7.6 realtime cloth adn wind simulation which failed horribly (the cloth keeps crumbling up and wraps around itself into a bundle ) so I spent about an hour or so trying to get that to work for a nice "boat sail flapping in the wind" effect which I dropped for later since I didn't get anywhere...
my question is, should I count that hour as part of the modeling time restriction for the boat SMC? Because then I have spent about 3.5 hours already and would like to add some more small modeling details to the mesh before submitting it...
Ps. started a WIP for the boat since I plan to expand the model and scene after I submitted it for SMC... here is the thread : >>SMC33 boat WIP<< (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?p=75417#post75417) |

Prodigy has extended the time of this SMC to 4 h (see the entry thread). He probably had you in mind :)
I like your boat a lot and it would be nice to have it as an entry. I think it is up to you to decide whether what you show is done in the time limits. The nice thing about the SMC is to see the diifferent approaches people take on the same subject.
