May someone with car experience can tellme if is better model each part separated (doors, Windows, etc) or is better modeling the whole model as one piece?? |

Model as one, then separate the pieces, that way they match up exactly. I'd also recommend doing it with edge extrusion rather than solid box but that might not be such an issue if you're not making each panel individually. Hopefully edge extrusion will get into workspace soon and then everyone can have a crack at cars and the like!
Looking good so far and nice choice! |

Vrooom, vrooom! Looking very promising Augusto - modeling a car is something I've never been brave enough to try but you are surely off to a good start.
Has anyone ever noticed that 3d car modellers are generally not very ecologically aware - it's always gas guzzling big bore muscle cars and never a Prius or an electric scooter!! |

Indeed - there does seem to be a tendedncy towards muscle cars and supercars - perhaps can be seen as a comparable situation to the proliferation of 'well endowed' female characters mentioned in another thread.
Having said that, my collection of free 3d car models that I've collected from round the web includes a Smart car, various renault, skoda and peugot models as well as several vans and pickups, most of which aren't glamourous at all. But I haven't seen many 'beauty renders' of such models either...
Looks like you're off to a good start though Prodigy. |

Very nice, Prodigy! Car modeling is always a major undertaking and you are off to a great start.
You probably already are aware of this but I thought I'd mention it.....
Try to keep your mesh confined to 3 or 4 sided polys. (There are some 5 sided polys on the hood and rear fender and a 7 sided one on the bottom corner of the rear window.)
These > 4 sided polys do some really strange things when you subdivide. Try to get all the polys fixed before applying any extruding, beveling, or chamfering and life will be much smoother.
Looking forward to seeing your progress! |

Well the reason nobody does the "eco" cars is because they are UGLY. Oh Prodidgy I have to disagree..the 68-69 Z28 or SS camaro by far the best of the old muscle! |

I got to ride in a Boss302 way back in 1974 I think it was. I remember becasue I was on my way from the doctor's office, up to the hospital to get a blood sample taken. I just missed the bus and had only 20 mins to make the hospital :(
So I do what comes natural and stuck out my thumb looking for a lift. Guy pulls up and I hop in and he tears down the street and my eyes are just bugged out. Wow!
He could only take me to bottom of hill below hospital. I ran like a mad man up the hill and steps to the hospital and down the hall to where samples would be taken. My heart was pumping so hard I filled the sample up in few seconds and when the male nurse took out the needle I spurted clear across the room .... heh. He commented on my fitness of the cardiovascular scenario.
I always had a liking of the Mustang and Dodge has some neat superB's as I grew up. Chev camaro is a classic too. Watching the classic car shows on tv, shows me how many beauty cars there really were, even though I never really saw half of them as I grew up. Is great to see them restored and such on tv and in mags. Even cooler to see one created in ts :) |

Great choice prodigy! It truly is a beautiful car to create in 3D
I am very ecologically conscious in my daily life, but... I thrill at watching Nascar racing and any car/truck Rally, so go figure. Personally, 'playing' (ie:'drifting', seeing how long all the wheels can stay off the ground at once, smokin' the tires till they pop, etc) is what a car is best made for, thus the appeal of 'muscle cars'. One can get from point A to point B in many other less fun ways.
Now HOW the heck (or WHY?!) would anyone want to do that in a Smart car?! (was introduced to the tiny Smart car last month in Europe. Hilarious! I think they're so cute, I'm gettin' one for my 12 yr old son for Christmas :D) |

Currently looking to buy a cheap fuel-efficient car... wonder if this one would be a good choise ;)
Have to say that this kind of muscle car is one of my favourites, to bad you rarely see them in Sweden (since gas cost a fortune compared to the US :()
Will be very interesting to see this progress, looks excellent so far! :D
BTW I'm guessing that you're heading for the pure Poly-model approach and wont use Subdivision? |

W!zard! I think we can still save you!
What's better than owning a muscle car?
That's right, having a friend who owns one! (http://www.hotrodders.com/gallery/)
Now, go find that friend and spend the day with some real horsepower (http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/Photos.html) under your right foot.
Don't come back until you smell of gasoline and burned rubber.
(translation: petrol and burnt tyres)
Now, what was that silly question about Pious -er- Prius and electric scooters?! |

Any chance we can see it in the blues...!?

Looking good Prodigy.
I think you missed some lines looking at the Mustang from the front. Without them you will miss that distinctive Mustang look. |
