RAYMAN,
1) About the suspension was a joke! i belive any car needs a better suspension if the driver is an elephant..;)
2) Im not a truly fan of mustang but i have no any doubt Mustang is a real muscle car.. Any coupe from the 60' and 70' with a good amount of HP is considere a muscle car.
Corvette, Dodge, Mustang, Pontiac, Camaro, Oldsmobil, Plymouth has your own Muscle cars..
About the Shelby GT500 "Eleanor", is not a serie car, it's just a modification from a Fastback 68 for the movie 60sec. I dont know if must be considere a REAL muscle car, not for the HP or the style but it was not "created" in the 60' or 70', the real fastback it is a muscle car..
So you can't say mustang is not a muscle car..

RAYMAN,
1) About the suspension was a joke! i belive any car needs a better suspension if the driver is an elephant..;)
I know it was a joke ! A good one !
What the Mustang and the muscle car is concerned .. I am not your
opinion. It did not have much horsepower ! It was a midclass car !
Eleonor was a film car .... but it was a "Schelby" very much like the cobras
They were built in small quantities ( in1967 - 2048 pieces). The technology had nothing to do with the platform it was built on. It had 2 types of motors the 4.7 liters and the 7.0 liters(with 360 Hp).Only few of the standard
Mustangs were built with the 7.0 engine .... most with the 4.7 liter! The lowest were the 2.8 Liters six cylinders.... The price for the smallest of them was $2368 .-most basic version when it came out.Was only 177 kph fast (110 mph ).
So it was actually an ecological car compared to the big bloc cars of that day.Cars were my hobby in the 60´s and 70´s.... but its no longer a timepass
for me any more. The cars nowadys just dont have any class any more....

Ya know rayman you are right. I go to car shows and just love to see the detail in them. The chrome, the lines they are just nice. Now the 70's were a bit of a drag with the exception of some of the Corvette's and Camaros. Heck the 70's gave us me and the Mustang 2...now that is a "muscle" car. I think that the 60's were the best years for cars. I love the shapping and the power. |

You are right it is a real car !
It is a Ford "SHELBY" GT 500 with a nitro. Some Shelbys are nitro engines
some are even race cars.

Ok.. let's put on this way..
Eleanor is not a Shelby GT500 from 67' - In 60sec. you see a Ford Mustang Fastback from 67 customized by Unique Performance and Chip Foose..
Eleanor was an invention for the movie.
Now Carol Shelby accept the Eleanor as a "Shelby" for the great succes of the movie, but Eleanor was not created by shelby.
By the way, in the original movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" Eleanor was a yellow ford mustang Match 1 from 71' without changes.. :p
Any doubt, search in google :D |

India has more millionaires than any othe country in the world - so there's plenty of guys there who could afford a Mustang and the costs of running it. Interestingly, anyone driving a Mustang in India would find that they have to give way, not only to elephants but also the sacred cows that wander around freely. You would never find anywhere you could travel at 177kph!
LOL - Rayman, I love the idea that the Mustang was an 'ecological' car back in it's day!! I don't know that I would agree that todays cars have no class though - it's just a different type of class.
Prodigy what an interesting thread you've got here!! |

A Mustang with a big block would be muscle car. Muscle cars have big block engines and two doors. That leaves out most other cars. There is no doubt that a Mustang Boss 302 or a Cuda with a 340 is a quick car, but it is not a muscle car. Muscle cars are far and few between after 1974. |

They say..
"The 1970 Mustang (http://www.motortrend.com/cars/2008/ford/mustang/index.html) Boss 302 is a prime example of the American muscle car. Brilliantly restored, this is one of only 7,014 of its kind and features the famous 302-cubic-inch Windsor engine, a four-barrel Holley carburetor, and decades of memories."
I think im not the only one with the wrong concept.. |

Augusto !!!!! Next your going to tell me that "Sanata claus is not real".
I´m a very small child (well some parts in me are ....the other are getting 46 in about 10 days....) hehehehe.
You are right Eleanor was a moc - up !
It was meant to be a Shelby....and many people have false Shelbys.
Then again many people have false teeth too :)
By the way ....11 years ago I stumbled over a job that was a dream from
my childhood days. I took pictures for a car rental company and they got the
job to make a Ferrari 456 replica for the underwater scenes of "jedermanns fest".
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jedermanns_Fest
Well I spent 2 months together with a handfull of people making a moc-up of
a car......
There is a lot of cheating going on ....onscreen !

What?!?!?! Santa is not real!?!? :(
all start with "the Mustang is not a "Muscle" car.." :p
The boss 302 IS a muscle car .. :D
The Eleanor is a very preaty famous car ..like the Pontiac Trans Am (K.I.T.T.) to be in the 80' tv series(Knight Rider)
Muscle cars was the "belle époque" of coupe cars..
End :D
Corvette... how i love you!!!!! but here are extremly expensive..
A corvette 74 (C3) cost about 30.000 i cry when i saw corvettes in E-bay for 8.000 U$D or less.. :( |

Steinie, I had a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger. It had a three speed manual shift on the column and a 225 slant six motor. NOT a muscle car.
If they want to include the 302 Boss Mustang then you also have to include the Ford Maverick with the 302.
Also many late model cars are quick but that does not make them muscle cars. Like the Camaro, if it's not a big block, it's not a muscle car. Muscle cars are about sticking in the largest engine in the smallest car. |

In my mind muscle cars are those big stroking, big block engines.
380 cubic inches and up
At least in the 1960s that was the criteria. It was a general consensus on the street, that muscle cars pretty much died off after 1970.
The sound of a 426 inch hemi would strike fear in the heart of the uninitiated.
BTW, nice work Prodigy. |

Tugar i think you has a wrong concept of Muscle cars, is not just only a big block or HP.
Check the Weineck Cobra 780 CUI with 1100 HP ~ 0 - 300 kph in 10 sec
http://www.fast-autos.net/vehicles/Weineck/2006/Cobra_780_cui_Limited_Edition/
BTW is not a Shelby Cobra!!! just looks like one!!! :D

Tugar..you saying Camaro is not a muscle car?
I'm saying not all Camaros are. Certain Camaros had four or 6 cylinder engine. Is that Camaro a muscle car?
A normal late model Z28 with a 350 is NOT a muscle car. It's a sports car. A 1972 Camaro with a 454 is a muscle. Same with the corvettes. If the engine has less than 396 cubic inches. It is NOT a muscle car. That does not mean it's not fast. A friend of mine has a VW Beetle that can run 11 seconds in the 1/4 mile. It's faster than many true muscle cars, that does NOT make it a muscle car. |

Augusto !
I´m not going to let you have the last word ! :)
If you love Corvettes you maybe like my muscle car too !
I bought it in 2004 for around $10000 with low milage (around 40000 miles)
in mint condition its an 850 ci from 1993......
Only I have a funny problem with it now. Its all electronics has 2 batteries...
the batteries are in the trunk ... motor in front. The batteries are dead now
and I want to replace them. But you need the batteries to open the trunk !
So I have to find a battery to hook into the motor to open the central locks
to open the trunk to get the old batterries out ... to end up with an open trunk because you cant close it again.
So when you see a Corvette for just $10000 think of this and that it burns
holes in your pockets and nerves if something goes wrong !

Oh how I whish I did not sell my ride. I had a 1989 Iroc Z28..convertiable 5 spd. Now you say what is so speical about this car. Well for one is was the last full year of the Iroc. 2 they only made 1200 +/- convertiables. Then on top of that, they only made a handfull of them in 5-spd. I still kick myself because they are very rare. |

If you can get hold of one of these ... they are soaring up in price....
and are very everyday useable. The picture shows a 3.0 cs from the
early 70s. The most rare and expensive are the 3.0CSL. Those are
realy rare !
http://www.motor-klassik.de/auto_U_technik/fahrberichte/hxcms_article_507563_14702.hbs
Many parts for them are still around so they are serviceable too.
Plus they are not electronic !

Some even earlier typs like the CS3200 looked like it too and are even
around ten years older... they had rectangular headlights.
Everything depends on what state they are in.... because to build one
up again is very expensive !
Easier to build in 3d ! ;)
