I have always been fascinated by these 'frozen time' pictures and decided to make one based on the coin box I made for one of the SMCs. So these are separate scenes and I had to animate the right one to get the motion blur.
The hands are TGA planes, all done in TS. Like to hear your comments, should I make more movements, lighting OK? I realize this particular breaking of a plastic window is not likely to occur, but it was fun to make...

As someone who has an unnatural passion for our lovely red phone boxes (anarok moment: this is a simplification of the K6 model!) I was instantly grabbed by this pic when the thread opened and, to be honest, I thought it was a photograph.
This is absolutely stunning, I can see this popping up all over the place if you submit it to a stock photo agency. |

Like WWOTW I love red phone box's, maybe it is a british thing...
Again, stunning work and looks like a photo.
Only thing I might change is the hand(s) they look a little flat compared to the rest. Also it might be better if the hand was pushing the coin in rather than dropping it. If that is not possible, maybe dropping from more of a height...?
Excellent all the same...:D |

Excellent work Georg - I don't know what to suggest as an improvement - this looks complete to me! Nice job. |

Cool image! I thought the hands looked a little dark for the composition, but it's very minor.
One point that grabs me as very slightly incongruous - it's a traditional british phone box, but the coins are not british I think (euros?) Just looks odd to me as a Brit I suppose - but it wouldn't be at all unreasonable for a tourist to own such a money box after all so I don't see that you should change it.
Great job. |

Thank you all for your kind words, and the banana's of course. I am thinking of submitting it to the gallery, although there is little volumetric ligthing in it :D
(anarok moment: this is a simplification of the K6 model!)
lol, how do you know these things, a real phone booth aficionado!
Splinters: I thought about pushing in the coin, but the mere dropping leading to the burst seemed even sillier.
It is a euro coin, Nez, no pun intended. I always see these toy phone booths and of course the double deck buses as souvenirs on the airport when I visit the UK, to me they are a sort of universal phone booth and I like their design with the rounded top.

As I only recently started partaking in the Caligari forums, whenever I have a few spare moments, I like to peruse through some of the older threads to see what I've been missing. Todays wanderings brought up this little beauty; Great work Georg and well worth a bump.
Is it just me, or do you find that the most simplistic of real world objects often prove to be most stunning when realised in 3D (transients chocolate and soap bubble being very good examples)? |

I agree completely and it is often because normally you do not pay too much attention to an everyday item until you see it the 3D way, enlarged, taken from its suroundings, often too perfect.
Thanks for rambling through the history and showing my telephone. I like to tell little stories with my pictures when possible and the combination of photographic textures with models is fun to do. Here is a recent one that I started with Prodigy's SMC for the audio system. I wanted to make an old gramophone to be a bit different from the shiny tweeters. It took me too long for the SMC to enter so I decided to use the model in a scene. Hope you like it. |
